Of all the things I do at work, I enjoy talking to my team the most. We have fantastic discussions around optimizing our NER models, tuning fuzzy lookups, improving data accuracy, etc. Last week, we grazed over bi-modality and interestingly used the emotions that core teams in startups experience as an example. Analyzing our own experience, we noticed two distinct zones representing our journey so far, and we dub them: 📌 Terror Funk Zone (TFZ) 📌 Exhilaration Zone (EZ) The terror funk zones (TFZs) are long-lived, and the exhilaration zones (EZs) are very short-lived. The TFZs are where we do the heavy lifting, such as building our product, talking to businesses, setting up milestones, etc. The EZs are where we celebrate our milestones and cherish our achievements. 👆 Although EZs are tempting, we know we can't laze around there too long. Our typical EZs last 4 to 6 hours, and our TFZs can stretch for 3 to 5 weeks. 💪 We thrive in the terror funk zones, working hard to emerge from them and reward ourselves with fun in the EZs. I know this pattern is prevalent in many #startups. However, we're aware that extended TFZs can be detrimental, which is where our exceptional team members invest significant effort into moving us from the TFZ to the EZ, rejuvenating us for the next TFZ plunge. 👉 We're always looking for passionate, resilient team members who can help us reach our exhilaration zones together.
