Meet Megan Shaw, our Director of Brand Marketing and Media Relations.   Megan is a marketing and communications specialist with a background in journalism and brand management. She has worked in newsrooms across the country, most recently as a reporter and TV news anchor in Ottawa. In a career spanning over 15 years, Megan has covered everything from major current events to political, economic, and international issues.   “What attracted me to media was the opportunity to connect with people and use my various skillsets for storytelling, reporting, writing, presenting, etc. It feels like a natural pivot to Syntax, where I get to use these same skills to assist with media, marketing, and communication needs,” she says.   Her favourite thing about Syntax is the team she works with. “It really is a team of experts who care deeply about their community and the products/designs they create,” says Megan.   When she’s not at work, Megan loves spending time with family and friends and taking part in various social and community events in Ottawa. Meet Kayla Bryant, our Senior Digital Media Strategist and Graphic Designer.   In her role at Syntax, Kayla’s responsibilities extend far beyond her title. She specializes in branding for businesses and municipalities, bringing their visions to life through custom illustrations. Her work involves designing a wide variety of materials, including social media graphics, reports, infographics, and signage. This diversity keeps her days dynamic and exciting. “My previous work experience in print media has been invaluable in my current role. I learned to thrive in fast-paced environments, becoming resourceful and adept at handling various challenges,” she says. Kayla’s favourite thing about Syntax is the sheer variety of projects and mediums she gets to engage with. “This variety, coupled with the creative freedom I enjoy, makes every day unique and fulfilling,” she says. Outside of work, Kayla cherishes her time as a mom. She is also passionate about photography, DIY projects, and illustrating.
