Meet Krishnan, a dedicated member of Teck’s Tour de Cure cycling team since 2009. “For me, it’s a tangible way to give back to my community. It also inspired my daughter to join me, and her participation serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration, not just within our family but also among others, encouraging them to take part and contribute to the cause.” We celebrate Krishnan for making a difference in our communities. https://lnkd.in/g3B59Ufa

“My love for nature, sustainability and the outdoors brought me to Teck’s biodiversity team in Logan Lake, B.C., and I stayed for the passionate, smart and dedicated people I work with every day. I constantly learn and feel inspired from the training opportunities, workshops, industry conferences and research projects offered here. I am proud to be a woman in mining at Teck. I bring a unique perspective to mine reclamation, contribute as a team player, and learn from Indigenous community members and other experts. At present, I'm most excited about the new biodiversity monitoring technologies we're testing and long-term research that my team is finalizing in collaboration with a leading Canadian university. One thing I've learned is that to succeed at Teck, you just need to be your authentic self, be willing to learn, collaborate and share your ideas, no matter how big or small.” Kim - Senior Coordinator, Biodiversity, Reclamation and Mine Closure – Highland Valley Copper, Logan Lake, B.C. Congratulations to the mine rescue teams, including those from Teck, for showcasing their emergency response skills at the 66th Annual Provincial Mine Rescue and First Aid Competition at the Britannia Mine Museum near Squamish, B.C. These teams are the ultimate multi-taskers, acting as their operation’s firefighters, paramedics, and high-angle rescue experts. They have also stepped up to help their communities in times of need, including during the Lladnar Creek and Mount Bingay wildfires in B.C.’s Elk Valley last year. At Teck, safety is a core value, and we deeply appreciate their hard work and dedication to keeping everyone safe. Thank you! https://lnkd.in/gGN7Zhwf

In honour of both Indigenous History Month and Pride in June, Teck commissioned artwork from Kayla Phillips Washington, an artist of Nlaka’pamux and Tsilhqot’in heritage from Nooaitch Indian Band. At its center is a turtle, symbolizing Turtle Island, adorned with four directional colors. Inside the turtle, rainbow hues represent inclusivity and mindfulness towards the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Kayla says “I have also included Nlaka’pamux language in my piece. It’s a Nlaka’pamux quote that has stuck with me when I think of my nation, ‘We are strong,’ because we are strong people.”
