The Bank of Canada announced today that it's cutting its key interest rate by 50 basis points. ❓How does that impact mortgages❓ Cutting interest rates generally leads to lower mortgage rates. 👉If you've got a fixed-rate mortgage, a rate cut won't affect your payments. However, new fixed-rate mortgages might be offered at lower rates. 👉If you have a variable-rate mortgage, a rate cut can reduce your monthly payments as the interest rate adjusts in response. This means instant relief for variable-rate holders. Learn more about the difference between fixed vs variable mortgages here: https://lnkd.in/debTVEq7 #BoC #financenews #mortgage #interestrates
