Yesterday at the Jean Tweed Centre, we were pleased to host our Annual General Meeting, reflecting on an incredible year of growth, learning, innovation, and, above all, hope, help, and healing. We began the meeting with a meaningful smudging ceremony led by our team member, Robbyn, reminding us of the importance of cleansing our space and honouring Indigenous traditions as we gather together in community. A special thank you to our board chair, Laura Sluce, for her invaluable contributions and assistance in organizing our AGM. We also extend our gratitude to all of our board members for their participation and ongoing support. We are especially touched by our client Laura, who bravely shared her journey of resilience and recovery with everyone in attendance. You can find Laura’s inspiring story in our annual report. We join her in celebrating a significant milestone—she was granted access to reunite with her son as of yesterday. This moment is a testament to the hard work of our dedicated staff, who continue to support clients like Laura in bringing families back together, so mothers and children can thrive. The AGM was filled with reflection and gratitude as we looked back on our achievements, including serving the most women and children we have ever served in a single year, impacting even more lives than ever before. We are immensely grateful for our team—please refer to our annual report for all the highlights. 💚 #AGM2023 #CommunitySupport #Resilience #JeanTweedCentre

Listen to Laura’s Story: https://lnkd.in/gXrB3uqn At the Jean Tweed Centre, we prioritize the safety and privacy of our clients. In this recording, we have shielded Laura’s face to respect her journey. Last night at our Annual General Meeting, Laura courageously shared her powerful story of healing, renewal, and her path forward. Her journey is a testament to strength, resilience, and fearlessness. A particularly emotional highlight was when she revealed that she was reunited with her son on the very day of her presentation. At the Jean Tweed Centre, the reunification of families is a priority, and we are dedicated to supporting women and children as they navigate their unique challenges. Every story, like Laura’s, underscores the profound impact of our work and fuels our unwavering commitment to empowering women and fostering healthy families. We are honoured to serve these resilient women and their children, helping them build brighter futures. Thank you, Laura, for trusting us with your story and for shining a light on the incredible strength of the women we support at the Jean Tweed Centre. #JeanTweedCentre #WomenSupportingWomen #FamilyReunification #StrengthAndResilience #HealingJourneys #Empowerment #SupportForWomen #HealthyFamilies #InspiringStories #CommunitySupport #EndDomesticViolence #WomenAndChildren #HopeAndHealing #TogetherWeCan #MakeADifference

🌸 September is Recovery Month, and at the Jean Tweed Centre, we proudly join organizations around the world to honour this vital event. In Canada, approximately 21% of people will be affected by addiction in their lifetime, and we recognize that recovery looks different for every woman. This month, we want to highlight that each woman’s recovery journey is unique and can take many forms. From harm reduction to rehabilitation, a continuum of supports is essential to meet the diverse needs of women affected by addiction. By fostering open dialogue and understanding, we can help reduce the stigma surrounding addiction and empower women on their paths to recovery. If you are a woman impacted by addiction, we are here for you. Please reach out to us or visit our website to learn more about our programs and services designed to support you. Together, we can create a community of healing and hope. 💜 #RecoveryMonth #WomensHealth #JeanTweedCentre
