What an exciting three days at the Canadian Network of Agencies for Regulation (CNAR) conference in Ottawa! We had a wonderful time connecting with fellow regulators who share our passion for protecting and serving the public and learning from the many insightful speakers on the main stage and in the breakout sessions. A big shout out to Darren Tonn from INCITE for our beautiful branding and creative 3D materials this year. And thank you to all the CNAR organizers for putting together such an outstanding event. We're proud to have contributed as silver sponsors and look forward to seeing everyone again in Calgary next year! #CNAR2024 #professionalregulation

It has been just over two years since we hung The Regulator’s Practice shingle and started supporting regulatory leaders across the country. It has been an exciting time. One year ago I welcomed two incredible members to the team, Kevin McCarthy and Iva Gatcheva, and with three times the capacity, we have been able to do so much more. The two-year milestone also brings with it exciting news. Over the next few weeks, we will be introducing you to new members of the team who bring diverse experience and allow us to broaden our support of the regulatory community. Today, we are starting with a bang introducing Joanie Bouchard, our new 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿 – 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆. For anyone who knows Joanie, you will know she is a powerhouse. Joanie has recently closed two exciting chapters in her career – as the ED/Registrar of the College of Dietitians of BC and as the Chief Transition Officer of the BC’s recent health regulatory amalgamation, seeing eleven colleges amalgamate into two. Joanie’s leadership in BC has had a profound impact on our regulatory landscape – real commitment and traction to dismantling Indigenous-specific racism, increased collaboration among regulators, governance modernization, and, of course, amalgamation. Her passion for continuous learning, her ability to connect with people on a human level, and her drive to see positive change realized, has made healthcare in BC safer and more inclusive. As Joanie moves back to Quebec with her family, she joins The Regulator’s Practice community as an 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿 – 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆. Joanie will support Registrars and regulatory bodies across the country as they: ➕ Lean into transformative change including amalgamation ➕ Redesign their regulatory strategy and engage in strategic discussions about the future ➕ Provide high-quality regulatory-specific governance learning to their boards and committees We are excited to welcome Joanie to the team, and excited that regulators across the country will get to benefit from her rich experience and passion for regulation.

Proud to work with the INCITE team to share some of the learning from our work with regulators navigating amalgamations. This is the second of three articles focusing on the importance of communication through the amalgamation process. #regulation #change #amalgamation #communication
In article two of our series in partnership with The Regulator's Practice on Canadian Regulators and Amalgamation, we caught up with Inciter Jesse Meyer on the importance of early and frequent communications throughout the amalgamation process. And judging by the insights he shared, ‘important’ is an understatement. “If you don’t communicate and share information, in detail and through the right mediums and channels, people will be left to their own devices to fill in the blanks on what it all means,” he warns. Follow the link below for further insights, plus Jesse’s insider tips for successful post-amalgamation communications. https://buff.ly/4cMMkB8 #Regulation #Amalgamation #PublicInterest #RegulatoryBodies #BradleyChisholm #TheRegulatorsPractice #Incite

The Regulator's Practice reposted this
At midnight last night, 11 BC health profession regulators become 2: the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC and the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC. The Regulator's Practice is proud to have been a part of this process and to the support the design of the governance frameworks for these multi-professional health regulators. Of course we want to thank all those we have worked with through this process including Allan Seckel and Joanie Bouchard. Such an honour to work alongside such committed and focused leaders. We also want to send our gratitude and very best wishes to the staff of these two new regulators. You got this! You are about to build something new, innovative and groundbreaking... and we can't think of better people to do it. You are some of the most thoughtful, committed people we have ever worked with. Bring your best, support each other, build something spectacular, never forget the publics you serve, be bold, be creative and enjoy the ride.
