Vibrant Community Leagues! Vibrant City!
About us
The role of the EFCL is to speak on behalf of all community leagues. EFCL assists and supports the work of community leagues through program development and delivery, workshops, regular communications, advice on issues and opportunities, joint purchase of supplies, and attraction of sponsorships. EFCL focuses its work on: * issues that have a city-wide implication for community leagues. These include sports and recreation programs and facilities, zoning bylaw changes such as secondary suites regulation, the Municipal Development Plan, Joint Use Agreement, Transportation Master Plan, the parks management strategy, public involvement policy, affordable housing policy, public transit systems and municipal community league grants; * issues that may affect a majority of community leagues either directly or indirectly. Examples include mature neighbourhoods redevelopment, oil and gas facilities, river valley and top-of-bank policy, school closure policy and processes, LRT system, noise wall standards, Tripartite Licence Agreement * issues that will affect future community leagues where there is none now to represent their long-term interests - suburban neighbourhood design guidelines, area structure plans and school/park sites planning. * informing community leagues of projects and emerging issues/events, * checking with and gathering feedback from community leagues, * consulting with partners

But why did the community league model start? And why has it been such a success in Edmonton?" Check out this week's This is Edmonton for answers to these questions and so much more! https://lnkd.in/gbCgJjH8

A huge thank-you to everyone who came out for our Annual General Meeting. It's been an incredible year for the League movement, and with the continued involvement of the kind of thoughtful and engaged people who stopped by to meet our Friends & Neighbours, provide insightful feedback on our initiatives, and even introduce us to the next generation of community leaders, we know that next year will be even better. Thanks for helping us build thriving, vibrant communities, and see you at the Regular General Meeting in November!
