I am deeply honoured to be nominated for the position of Governing Board Member: At-Large Canada by The Obesity Society, one of the largest and most influential organizations in the world focused on obesity. This role will allow me to expand my advocacy to a larger scale for those who have been stigmatized and overlooked. For too long, people living with obesity have not been given the visibility and support they deserve. I’m here to advocate on their behalf, and in just three years, we’ve already made a global impact. At the height of COVID-19, when my event-planning business was impacted, a single thought and vision grew into something much greater. Obesity Matters was born from a desire to raise awareness of obesity and its impacts, and to challenge the status quo. Today, that idea has evolved into a thriving organization that serves many, demonstrating that we can truly create something out of nothing. As the Founder and Executive Director of Obesity Matters, I have built a supportive community that empowers individuals on their health journeys. Through initiatives like the OM Wellness Workshop, we create inclusive, non-judgmental spaces where people worldwide can access education and support, free from bias. Our work isn’t just about treating obesity — it’s about changing perspectives and driving meaningful change. We’ve connected patients, healthcare providers, and stakeholders through advocacy and community engagement, putting those affected by obesity at the forefront. I want to take a special moment to thank my co-founders, advisors, partners, supporters, and cheerleaders—this journey has been possible because of your unwavering belief in our mission.
