Diwali is one of the biggest and most important national holidays in India, celebrated by many cultures and religions, including Sikhs and Hindus. Also known as the Festival of Lights, Diwali is based on the lunar calendar, and this year, it will be celebrated on November 1, 2024. Traditionally, it spans five days of festivities. We clean our homes, decorate our spaces, and light diyas (clay lamps and candles) to protect us from darkness and bring in light. We also visit the temple for a prayer service, enjoy fireworks, and share a special meal with loved ones, including delicious sweets. Sometimes, we exchange gifts with one another. Dhanyavaad (Thank you). ~ Penny ✨🪔 #HappyDiwali #ThriveCommunitySupportCircle

About us
Our Mission Thrive Community Support Circle is a diverse agency dedicated to offering services that are inclusive to all persons, in all stages, to cultivate life, provide opportunities for empowerment, and to grow the community we serve. Our Vision Thrive believes in the potential of people and communities to grow and create change in a positive way. Through our community services including the programming, therapeutic counselling, drop in, thrift shop and child care, we provide opportunities and support to individuals to create this change in themselves and the community as defined in their personal journey. By working in cooperation with partnerships of other community agencies; recruiting qualified, caring and like-minded staff, volunteers and donors, and by respecting each person’s individuality, we provide community members with professional and supportive service within the context of our resources.

Imagine a space specifically designed for those facing abuse or addiction, where privacy and comfort come first. With our new building, children, families, and individuals will finally have that space. Accessibility is a priority. Our new facility will include an elevator, public washrooms, and private rooms for urgent care, ensuring everyone can access support with dignity. ♿️💙 Our biggest challenge right now is the lack of private spaces for those experiencing sexual abuse, domestic violence, or addiction. But with your help, we can change that. Let’s come together to make this building a reality. We are committed to ensuring everyone feels safe and supported when they seek help, which is why we are expanding our programs and creating these crucial one-on-one support spaces in the new building.
