TIFF is dedicated to presenting the best of international and Canadian cinema to film lovers. What began as a ten-day film festival has grown to embrace programming 365 days a year. TIFF offers screenings, lectures, discussions, festivals, workshops, industry support and the chance to meet filmmakers from Canada and around the world. In September 2010, the opening of our new home, TIFF Lightbox, enabled TIFF to expand to truly become a creative, community and global leader, and one of the world’s premier organizations in the discovery and understanding of film.   • TIFF is proud to reveal the 24th edition of Canada’s Top Ten, presented by MUBI. Featuring works from emerging artists and established filmmakers, this year’s list includes directorial debuts like R.T. Thorne’s 40 ACRES and Kaniehtiio Horn’s SEEDS; plus the latest from past honourees, like Matthew Rankin’s UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE, David Cronenberg’s THE SHROUDS, and more. “Canada’s Top Ten celebrates the very best of Canadian cinema, showcasing the bold artistry of Canada’s most celebrated filmmakers and the fresh perspectives of emerging voices.   • Announced at the Canada’s Top Ten opening ceremony: TIFF’s national film outreach programme, Film Circuit, has been renamed the Donald Shebib TIFF Film Circuit, thanks to a generous donation in honour of the late Canadian filmmaker by his son Noah Shebib and the 40 Foundation. Also announced was TIFF Cinematheque’s upcoming retrospective celebrating the incomparable Indo-Canadian director Deepa Mehta, reflecting on her remarkable 30+ year career.   • At tonight’s opening ceremony for Canada’s Top Ten, Miryam Charles was announced as the inaugural recipient of the Charles Officer Legacy Award, presented by TIFF and CBC. “Miryam is a person whose vision, creativity, and commitment to storytelling truly embody the spirit of the award.   • TIFF is celebrating the 50th edition of the Festival with a once-in-a-lifetime marquee series titled The TIFF Story in 50 Films.
