'Gold eases and zinc moves into backwardation' Galvanising base metal zinc is in backwardation after various mine issues this year significantly disrupted supply. Newswire Bloomberg pointed to a series of cuts in production guidance, the latest of which was issued by Sibanye Stillwater in relation to its Century operation in Queensland. Late last week Sibanye said it expected operations to be suspended until mid-November due to damage from a bushfire. Tinka Resources is one of the few advanced large zinc deposits that are not in production or owned by a major mining company. The project is valued at an NPV of US$ 434m, whilst the company is only worth $50m at today’s price. We have tracked Tinka since its discovery of silver many years ago, and have seen the Ayawilca project grow to a world class zinc deposit with a significant added tin endowment.
