OCEAN LEGACY FOUNDATION PARTNERSHIP UPDATE!🛞♻️ This year over a thousand foam-filled tires have been recovered from BC’s oceans and waterways, thanks to the hard work of Ocean Legacy Foundation! Last year we entered into a 5-year partnership with Ocean Legacy Foundation (OLF), providing $30,000/year to support scrap tire clean-up expeditions across BC, and remove foam from recovered tires so they can be properly recycled right here in BC. Using those funds, OLF purchased a guillotine to save on the time and labour required to remove the foam. As a result, they’re able to process more scrap tires, keeping them out of the oceans and landfill. Once the foam is properly removed from the tires, our friends at Liberty Tire Recycling pick them up to be recycled into new products right here in BC! Yesterday, the communications team at TSBC stopped by to see the new machine in action and learn more about the incredible work that they’re doing at OLF! We’re so proud to be partners with such an advanced and innovative environmental organization and can’t wait to see what’s to come for them! 👏🏽👏🏽 Read more about our partnership here: https://lnkd.in/g7_ZjvSE

For years we have been proud partners of Artist Response Team (ART) and the great work by Holly Arntzen and Kevin Wright to educate the younger generation about environmental stewardship through music. The new “Step in the Right Direction” song & video project is the result of a partnership between the ART team, Ey Stélmexw St’elt’ílém/Good Medicine Songs, Tire Stewardship BC, Interchange Recycling, and SD 33 (Chilliwack). This Fall, choir, band and drumming students from Chilliwack Secondary, Sardis Secondary, and GW Graham Secondary schools will record their parts which will be added to the final mix. Drumming group will be led by District Indigenous Enhancement Teacher, Rick Joe, and the final result is sure to impress! Did you know that unwanted tires can be transformed into a wide range of innovative products? On October 8, we had the fantastic opportunity to partner with the Alberta Recycling Management Authority (ARMA) in Edmonton for the Tire Recycling Innovation Symposium. This event brought together industry experts and innovators to address the challenges and opportunities faced by British Columbia and Alberta in developing sustainable markets for recycled tire materials. We shared valuable updates from both provinces, participated in insightful presentations, and engaged in discussions about the future of tire recycling. We visited Eco-Flex Recycled Rubber Solutions in Legal, Alberta, to explore innovative products made from recycled tires, such as wall panels, curb ramps and parking curbs. We also toured the Liberty Tire Recycling, LLC plant, where 30% of Off the Road (OTR) tires are processed into mulch and crumb for recycling.

Last night, four new Vancouver restaurants were added to the prestigious Michelin Guide! Is there a connection between Michelin tires and the MICHELIN Guide? Yep! "In order to help motorists develop their trips - thereby boosting car sales and in turn, tyre purchases - the Michelin brothers produced a small guide filled with handy information for travellers, such as maps, information on how to change a tyre, where to fill up on petrol, and wonderfully - for the traveller in search of respite from the adventures of the day - a listing of places to eat or take shelter for the night."
