The International Board of Directors has announced their appointments to serve as Region Advisors (RA) in 2025-2026. We celebrate our very own Amy Campbell, Past District Director (PDD), DTM, who has been appointed as the 2025-2026 Region 7 Advisor! Amy’s passion for Toastmasters, combined with her expertise in communication and leadership, makes her an awesome choice for this role. Amy will take her ‘members first’ approach to leadership, which she honed here in District 61, to her districts in Region 7! At the same time, we are excited to welcome Lisa Qu, PDD, DTM, appointed as the 2025-2026 Region 5 Advisor - the very region that includes District 61! When asked, Lisa reflected that Toastmasters has taught her the power of leading with intention – the idea of leading with clarity and purpose that empowers others to believe in their own potential and thrive. Each of those projects span a wide range of topics to interest members and stretch their skills. A new date for the contest will be announced as soon as it has been chosen. If you know of anyone who had planned to take part in the competition on Saturday March 1, please inform them that it has been cancelled and will not take place.

C'est avec une grande tristesse que nous partageons la nouvelle du décès de l'ancien directeur international (1999-2000) John Gupta, DTM, PID le 2025-02-25. John a été un Toastmaster dévoué pendant plus de quatre (4) décennies. Il a occupé tous les postes d'officiers de club à plusieurs reprises; il a accédé à des postes de leadership du District, y compris celui de gouverneur du District 61 en 1999-2000. Il a siégé au conseil d'administration de Toastmasters International à titre de directrice internationale en 2003-2005. En tant que modèle respecté, John a volontairement partagé la valeur de la culture de Toastmasters en servant de mentor à des membres qui ont ensuite réussi à occuper leurs propres postes de direction. John a joué un rôle déterminant dans la fondation du NDG Leader Toastmasters Club en 2004 et on se souvient de lui pour avoir créé un club dans l'arrondissement de NDG pour des personnes de tous les horizons. John était un membre respecté de Toastmasters, un mentor et un ami pour beaucoup. Nous adressons nos condoléances à la famille de John en cette période difficile. It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Past International Director (2003-2005) John Gupta DTM, PID on 2025-02-26. John was a dedicated Toastmaster for more than four (4) decades. He held all club officer roles multiple times; he advanced to District leadership positions, including District 61 Governor in 1999-2000 and served as an International Director on the Toastmasters International Board of Directors in 2003-2005. As a respected role-model John willingly shared the values of Toastmasters by mentoring members who have gone on to succeed in their own senior leadership positions. John was involved in the starting and mentoring of many clubs in District 61 and is remembered fondly for chartering a club for people from all different walks of life in the NDG borough of Montreal. John was a respected Toastmasters member, mentor and friend to many. Our sympathies go out to John's family at this difficult time. Additional details will be shared as they become available.
