Carbon and Toolkit3D discussed their ongoing collaboration for their shared client CCM Hockey to enable mass customization of helmets using scan data, and Design Engine's inverse specification of lattice structures to meet impact absorption requirements. The concept of mass customization and 3D Printing has been discussed for over a decade, and while there have been some success stories in the narrow applications of hearing aids and dental aligners, it is the building of robust software pipelines, coupled with rigorous material testing to tune simulation, and machine learning to reduce the computational expense that make it possible to 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 with multiple applications.
