The Town of Sylvan Lake is a thriving community that has seen significant growth over the last 10 years. Sylvan Lake has been rated as one of the fastest growing rural community according to Statistics Canada, as well as one of Canada's youngest communities. Over the last five years the municipality has grown 20.3 per cent. The Town of Sylvan Lake is one of the major urban area in the Central Alberta Region with a population of 12,327. The Town is no longer considered a seasonal community, 86 per cent of dwellings are permanent household. At present 70% of the Town's population is made up of people between the ages of 1 – 44 years, and the Town's workforce is growing rapidly along with its population, with 62% of residents reported holding full-time employment. Combined with the fact that 40% of working residents in Sylvan Lake are earning between $75,000 and $100,000+ you can see that it truly is a great place to invest and do business. The Town has a thriving business community that includes industrial, retail, office, service sector and tourism companies. The City of Red Deer, with a population of more than 90,000, is only 15 minutes away and the Town has a trading area of over 2.5 million people. Sylvan Lake is also fortunate to be located at the centre of one of the most prosperous economic regions globally--the Edmonton-Calgary Corridor, with both major Cities and their numerous amenities an hour and half drive away, accessed easily via Highway 2.
