Congratulations to Joe McFarland and the UCalgary team on receiving a MarCom Gold Award for your story on our co-founder Milton Carrasco and Transoft! Many thanks from Transoft for capturing Milton's journey and spirit of philanthropy so brilliantly.
"If you can see it, you can be it." It's through this lens I've always tried to craft my storytelling, as I believe inspiring tales give us all something to look up to. I've been fortunate in being able to tell numerous stories like that over the last four years at Schulich School of Engineering, University of Calgary. It was this year that Dana F. encouraged us to enter our best work for MarCom Awards. As I was thinking about it, the one that stood out recently was Milton Carrasco's desire to give back through Transoft Solutions Inc. The response to the story from everyone in the community was so strong that it made it an easy choice. Which leads us to today, where I can now say I've completed the transformation from award-winning radio journalist to award-winning media relations guru, as the story has received a MarCom Gold Award for Creativity - Writing - Brand Journalism. Thank you to those who felt the story was worth recognizing, thanks to Dana for encouraging us to enter, thanks to Milton and Transoft for being open to have their story told, thanks to my teammates (Stephanie Colucci, Dina Gizatulina and Calla Novello-Lauritsen) for being awesome supporters, and congrats to my fellow University of Calgary communicators who also won MarCom Awards. As it turns out, I'm kind of leading my own favourite mantra to a certain extent. For those struggling following media layoffs and career changes, know that your storytelling abilities can be used and recognized in so many other ways. If you can see it, you CAN be it. #Media #Marketing #Communications #Journalism #BrandJournalism #MarComAwards
