Do you remember a favourite field trip you took when you were in school? Everyone has a memory of unique learning experiences outside the classroom. For the students and teachers of Uvhungu-Vhungu Combined School, their visit to Kombat Mine may become one of those core memories! The students travelled from Rundu with Welwitchia Health Training Centre to explore the mine, discovering a new side of Kombat they didn’t previously know existed. Guided by Ms. Angela Milunga and Ms. Maija Shilongo from our Trigon Support Team, they experienced their classroom lessons IRL (in real life). After an introduction from our Health, Safety, and Environmental Department, students experienced firsthand the inner workings of the mine and connected the concepts they’ve learned in school to real-world applications in geology and mining. This field trip gave them more than just knowledge; it practised essential life skills like teamwork, time management, and communication, while creating closer connections between classmates in a new and exciting environment — inspiring the next generation of leaders in the mining industry! #miningworld #miningnews #mininglife #copperproducer #education #namibia

A closer look at Trigon's Maintenance team as they prepared the crusher top bearing following the replacement of a worn-out liner. This is part of our routine maintenance at Kombat, ensuring our equipment remains in top condition. The next step involved installing a new mantle cone liner onto the mantle shaft, allowing the crusher to continue operating efficiently and safely. At Kombat, we understand that equipment maintenance goes hand in hand with effective workplace housekeeping. In a workplace setting, housekeeping refers to the routine and scheduled management of workplace conditions. A housekeeping program not only keeps work areas clean and organized but also helps control, mitigate, or eliminate potential hazards. Poor housekeeping habits often contribute to accidents and incidents.
