The Conestoga College School of Hospitality & Culinary Arts, designed by Moriyama Teshima Architects in association with Gow Hastings Architects, was completed 5 years ago this month! The North Campus Expansion project set out to grow the college’s North Campus in Waterloo with a 4-storey addition to a former secondary school. The building houses construction and culinary trades programs, including the Centre for Food Innovation and Hospitality Management. An overarching design intent was to put culinary action on display, both inside and outside the building. Instructors are positioned in the centre of teaching spaces with their activity projected on screens to offer students an enhanced learning experience. Toward the building’s exterior, windows project the labs onto University Avenue, showcasing an animated culinary performance and providing a spectacle to passersby.
