How do I start to describe Day 1 of AAPEX? Things got underway with the opening breakfast and keynote at 6:30 a.m. and ended when Canada Night wrapped up at 8 p.m. Well, ended the official happenings. We all seemed to find each other around the town. The Automotive Industries Association of Canada’s Canada Night was a bit different this year. We were outdoors on the Palazzo pool deck. It was nice to be outside after spending 12 hours (or more) indoors. Of course, you can’t control the weather and the wind made things chilly by the end of the night. But I think most had a good time. As for other activities, I recorded a few podcasts and had some really interesting discussions with my guests. I was a guest on and Auto Care Association podcast with Jacki Lutz which was a ton of fun. Todd Campau gave his always-great insights on industry trends during the general session. And, of course, reunited with great industry friends, whether it was on the show floor or at Canada Night. Back at it tomorrow for Day 2. #autocare #automotiveaftermarket Turnkey Media Solutions

AAPEX is underway, kicking off with the keynote session this morning. Bill Hanvey and Paul McCarthy, as always, welcomed everyone and updated attendees of key issues and trends, including right to repair. Then NFL broadcaster Erin Andrews took the stage for a fireside style chat about her career and experiences before hosting panel discussion with Ashlee Arnold, Brad Beckham, Randy Breaux, Philip Daniele and Shane O'Kelly. More updates to come throughout the day, so stay tuned. You can also click this link for updates through the week: https://lnkd.in/grmTeFnB #autocare #automotiveaftermarket

And we’re off! AAPEX kicked off with tonight’s opening reception. It was great to see so many industry friends and colleagues once again. I don’t know what it is, but I’m feeling energized for this week. Ask me if I still feel that way on Wednesday 😵💫. We’re back at it with the opening keynote to start the day and ending off the official part of events with Automotive Industries Association of Canada’s Canada Night. See you tomorrow! #autocare #automotiveaftermarket #automotive Turnkey Media Solutions

Some big right to repair related news coming from the Automotive Industries Association of Canada. They announced two federal bills related to the movement are set to become law in Canada. One will allow for product owners or repairers to circumvent digital locks without breaking copyright laws so long as it’s done to maintain, diagnose or repair the item. The second will allow for different technologies to work together without breaking the same law. However, as mentioned, these are not bills specific to automotive, but certainly help the cause. As the association notes, standalone legislation is still needed. Check out the story that captures where we are, with a few insights from other experts about the importance of these measures getting passed. #autocare #automotiveaftermarket #automotive #righttorepar Turnkey Media Solutions
