ULI Alberta is the 3rd Canadian District Council of the Urban Land Institute, a global non-profit educational organization. We have over 280 members and are continually exploring new ways to expand our presence in the Province of Alberta. Our mission is to provide leadership in the responsible use of land and in creating and sustaining thriving communities worldwide. ULI Alberta carries forth that mission by serving Alberta’s public and private sectors with pragmatic land use expertise and education. As a nonpartisan organization, ULI has long been recognized as one of the most respected and widely quoted sources of objective information on urban planning, growth and development. Our members form a spectrum of land use and development disciplines, including developers, builders, investors, designers, public officials, planners, architects, real estate brokers, lawyers, engineers, lenders, academics and students. Members of the Urban Land Institute District Council of Alberta are automatically members of ULI National.

Thanks to all who joined for a tour of The Switch at Station Lands, a development by Qualico. The project impressed with its forward-thinking design and vision for enhancing urban living. Jason brings a passion for our mission and a proven track record in driving impactful initiatives, which will be key in furthering our organization’s reach and effectiveness. Jason has built his reputation as a thought-leader in real estate and a driver of innovative marketing and sales initiatives. An influential industry leader, he is also a business school instructor and sought-after speaker. Jason is Co-Founder & CEO of Ownly, Chairman of real estate marketing agency Chatterson, Executive Director of REDI | Real Estate Development Institute of Canada, sits on the Management Advisory Council for the Haskayne School of Business and is an advisory board member and committee chair for the Westman Centre for Real Estate Studies. With Jason’s leadership, we are confident that our chapter will reach new heights. Let’s give a warm welcome to Jason as he takes on this vital role!

Welcoming Our New Chair of Governance, Yolanda Lew! We are excited to announce Yolanda Lew has been appointed as Chair of Governance for the 2024-2026 term. As an urban planner with Stantec’s Community Development Team, Yolanda has worked on numerous development projects throughout the region and is still actively involved in projects related to ICE District, Edmonton's Arena and Entertainment District. As one of the most memorable and impactful projects she has worked on in her career, Yolanda takes pride in knowing that she has been a part of a transformation that is changing the heart of Edmonton into a vibrant hub. Yolanda is active in the development industry having served on the boards of UDI – Edmonton Metro, NAIOP and currently with ULI. Yolanda also works closely with different charitable organizations and with the University of Alberta Planning program. Yolanda’s expertise will be invaluable as we continue to move our chapter forward.

Introducing Our New Board Chair, Paul Gedye 👏 ULI Alberta is pleased to welcome Paul Gedye as Board Chair for the 2024-2026 term. With an impressive history of leadership and strategic vision, Paul is set to guide our organization through the next chapter of growth. Paul is the President of Western Vertical Inc., a boutique real estate advisory firm focused on helping clients exceed expectations on multifamily & mixed-use developments. A former executive with a national real estate firm, he has over 20 years of experience developing complex mixed-use projects in western Canada and the US, has a Master of Science in Real Estate from the University of San Diego, and is a LEED-AP. Paul is currently a member of the Calgary Subdivision and Appeal Board, a member of the NAIOP Government Relations committee, and a past member of the Calgary Planning Commission. Paul’s commitment to our mission and values will be pivotal in steering our board’s efforts and ensuring we achieve our long-term goals.
