One of the ways that #TeamUHN keeps patients safe during flu seasons is through our annual Flu Campaign. We're calling on team members across the organization to join Dr. Kevin Smith in getting your flu vaccine at any one of the Fight the Flu booths in lobbies and designated spots across our UHN locations. Booths will be set up from now until November 1st. Get vaccinated and do your part to protect yourself, your family and your community!

This week we celebrate MDRD Week at UHN! The Medical Device Reprocessing Department is responsible for the safe handling, cleaning, sterilization, storage and delivery of medical equipment throughout the organization so that safe patient care can be provided. Without them, the 25,000 surgeries that take place across our operating rooms each year would not be possible. Thank you to all of the MDRD staff at #TeamUHN for your dedication and diligence in keeping our patients safe and healthy behind the scenes!

#TeamUHN’s Dr. Michael Zywiel performed the first knee replacement surgery in Canada that used a new robotic assisted technology. Today, on World Arthritis Day, we are happy to share that patient Steve Gotal has not only retired his walker, but is also looking forward to swimming and cycling again in the future. Thanks and congratulations to Dr. Zywiel and the Schroeder Arthritis Institute team on the successful implementation of the VELYS robotic assisted device. This achievement will go on to help in surgeries and recoveries for 700 knee replacement patients that go through UHN each year.
