Accelerating Equity for Women in Finance
About us
As Canada’s largest network of women in finance, VersaFi is dedicated to providing a voice and platform for networking, mentorship, and development opportunities for its community of more than 4,000 members. Our role is to accelerate equity for women in finance. We do this in three key ways: by fostering a pipeline of talented women in the sector, at all career levels; by bringing together women in finance, with shared experiences and career goals, to provide opportunities for education and networking; and by working with the industry to address barriers, share best practices and strategies for progress, and implementing policies and practices to advance gender equity. Transparency in compensation and policy is vital. 82% of women agree that expectations around parental leave/child care/caregiving is the number one reason why women leave investment banking. The solution? A clear, transparent approach to compensation and bonuses, policies, and personalized plans to manage client responsibilities during a leave. By creating accessible policies, clear compensation frameworks and personalized client coverage plans, we can ensure that employees feel supported before, during, and after their leave—helping them return to work confidently and so they can thrive in their careers. The world of finance is full of opportunities, and for the industry to reach its full potential, it’s vital that we do two things: build a talent pipeline that includes more young women, and ensure that these young women see themselves as future leaders. To help demonstrate what a career in finance could look like, VersaFi and our corporate partners have proudly hosted Job Shadow Day for 20 years. This year, Job Shadow Day in Toronto will bring together 100 young women and gender-diverse individuals. These grade 11 and 12 students will participate in mentoring sessions, and get first-hand insight from industry professionals on the diverse career opportunities available to them. Our thanks to our Toronto sponsor firms that have volunteered their time and expertise: 🔹 CIBC (Morning Host) 🔹 BMO Capital Markets, Broadridge Financial Services, Canaccord Genuity Group Inc., CIBC Private Wealth / Gestion privée CIBC, MUFG Canada, National Bank of Canada, Picton Mahoney Asset Management, PwC, RBC Capital Markets and Scotiabank (Afternoon Hosts). Building the Talent Pipeline starts early! See more information about our Job Shadow Day event: https://lnkd.in/ekXVuUeU
