VETS Group reposted this
Comfort is the enemy of progress. – P.T. Barnum This was a take-a-way for me from the VETS Group Management Retreat last week in Kananaskis. 12 managers from all different areas of the company came together for the first time in more than 5 years to spend 3 intensive days focused on building a cohesive team, nurturing our culture, practicing healthy conflict and dreaming about the future. We challenged each other, we laughed, we lit fires and learned lessons together. Some conversations were really tough. Uncomfortable. And if I’ve learned anything in the last few years on my leadership journey it’s that the discipline of leadership is directly tied to our ability to sit in discomfort. Our own discomfort and the discomfort of others. There is strength and resilience in facing uncomfortable moments directly, with clarity and unity. I’m starting this week energized...and a bit exhausted if I’m being honest… but firm in the knowledge that the VETS team is ready to take on what is next. Special thanks to Sean Fitzgerald from Results. for navigating the week with us and Sean Rayner for always being up for investing in the health of the team. This is us after completing the Kananaskis Outfitters Amazing Race style activity! It was a great experience:)
