🌿🔋 Excited to share one of our innovative, seed-funded projects: "Integrated Concentrating Solar Photovoltaic-Thermal and Pumped Thermal Energy Storage Systems in Canada’s Cold Climate." This project is an example of the groundbreaking work from our 36 seed-funded initiatives! As we transition to renewable energy sources like wind and solar, reducing our carbon footprint and fostering a sustainable future is key. This project aims to boost solar energy conversion and storage by improving Concentrating Photovoltaic/Thermal (CPV/T) and Pumped Thermal Energy Storage (PTES) systems. The focus is on making these systems more efficient for Canada’s varied climate conditions. The goal? To ensure more efficient and longer-lasting energy storage, even in colder conditions. 🌞❄️ Leading the charge is Dr. Aggrey Mwesigye, Assistant Professor at the University of Calgary, with Co-PIs Dr. Abdulmajeed Mohamad (University of Calgary), Dr. Dominic Groulx (Dalhousie University), and Dr. Fuzhan Nasiri (Concordia University). With a budget of $200,000 in cash and $40,000 in-kind, this project is poised to make a significant impact. 💡💰 A huge thank you to our non-academic partners for their support: SolarSteam Inc. and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). 🔗 Learn more about this exciting project on the Volt-Age page: https://lnkd.in/e8Fjuj6Y #RenewableEnergy #Sustainability #SolarEnergy #CleanTech #EnergyInnovation #VoltAgeConcordia #Canada #EnergyStorage
