About us

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) was established in 1999 as an international independent agency composed and funded equally by the sport movement and governments of the world. Its key activities include scientific research, education, development of anti-doping capacities, and monitoring of the World Anti Doping Code (Code) – the document harmonizing anti-doping policies in all sports and all countries. WADA works towards a vision of a world where all athletes compete in a doping-free sporting environment. Our Vision: A world that values and fosters doping-free sport. Our Mission: WADA's mission is to lead a collaborative worldwide campaign for doping-free sport.

Our President, Witold Bańka, addressed over 350 leaders from 120+ International Federations and the International Olympic Committee – IOC at the SportAccord International Federation Forum 2024, held this week in Lausanne, Switzerland. 🎤    In line with the theme of this year’s forum, ‘Ensuring your International Federation is match fit and future ready’, Mr. Bańka’s keynote speech emphasized the need for IFs to properly support and resource their personnel, so that they can effectively manage their anti-doping programs.     “We cannot overstate the importance of the role of International Federations in the protection of clean sport. The World Anti-Doping Code places a lot of responsibility on IFs, and each one has a key part to play in implementing anti-doping policies and rules which conform with the Code and International Standards. Without the day-to-day work of the International Federations, sport as we know it would simply not exist.” said Mr. Bańka.     Emma Terho, our Athlete Council member and Chair of the IOC Athletes’ Commission, was also in attendance at the Forum to participate in the session titled ‘A robust anti-doping system in 2024 and beyond’.      Read more here: https://bit.ly/40eNyC7     #CleanSport #AntiDoping #Forum
