We receive lots of opportunities to help solve acoustics problems throughout the course of a day. Sometimes the information we provide is very specific, and sometimes it has broader principles that can help others. This is a great example of information that we can share to help others experiencing similar struggles with their venues! While the design team believed that 40+ people in the gymnasium would reduce the echo, and even with reports of up to 400 people, echoes persist. This is because bodies alone cannot absorb enough sound to manage the acoustics of large, hard-surfaced spaces like gymnasiums. Reasons Acoustic Treatment is Necessary: - Sound Reflection: Gym walls, floors, and ceilings reflect sound, creating echoes that bodies alone can't absorb. - Sound Absorption: Acoustic panels are designed to absorb sound energy, reducing echo and improving clarity. - Consistent Performance: Proper acoustic treatment ensures consistent sound quality, regardless of occupancy. While people do absorb some sound, the large reflective surfaces in a gymnasium require dedicated acoustic treatments to manage echo effectively.

We're proud to have completed the Peepeekisis Community Hub project, where we installed our state-of-the-art Echotrol acoustic wall panels. These panels not only look great but also enhance sound clarity and control, making the hub a perfect space for community activities and events. 🎉🏢 #WesternNoiseControl #AcousticSolutions #CommunityHub #SoundControl #Peepeekisis

🧡 Today, on National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, we pause to reflect on the painful legacy of residential schools and honor the strength, stories, and culture of Indigenous communities. It’s a time to listen, learn, and commit to actions that foster healing and build a future rooted in respect and reconciliation. #EveryChildMatters #TruthAndReconciliation #IndigenousRights #OrangeShirtDay

Exploring the Science of Sound with The Action Lab Check out this fascinating video by The Action Lab where they explore the anechoic and reverberation chambers at the 3M Innovation Center. Anechoic Chamber: Absorbs all sound, creating an intense silence where even the smallest noises are noticeable. Reverberation Chamber: Reflects all sound, amplifying and muddling even simple noises. The video features sound experiments and a demonstration with the world's loudest whistle, highlighting the dramatic differences in sound behavior between these unique environments. Understanding these principles helps us at Western Noise Control design better acoustic solutions. Watch the full video here: https://lnkd.in/dFnKA49B Learn more about how we apply these scientific principles to optimize sound quality and control for various settings. As Alberta experiences rapid growth, the provincial government’s commitment to building 90 new schools by 2031 highlights the need for quality infrastructure that supports education. At Western Noise Control, we recognize the crucial role acoustics play in creating effective learning environments. Poor sound control can hinder communication, focus, and overall learning outcomes. As an Alberta-based manufacturer, we specialize in providing tailored acoustic solutions for schools, helping reduce noise and enhance sound quality in classrooms, gyms, and auditoriums. #alberta #yeg #yyc #education #schools #acoustics #acoustictreatment https://lnkd.in/g5JKbJ3T

This was an exciting project in the retail sector. Bruce Eyewear in downtown Vancouver had some serious reverberation issues in their storefront. Our team was able to treat the space with Echotrol ceiling panels to create a much more comfortable environment for staff, clients, and the friendly dogs who like to hang out there!! #acousticpanels #westernnoisecontrol #ceilingpanels #retaildesign

At Western Noise Control, we focus on the education sector, because we understand the importance of ensuring the next generation is our future and they should be provided with as much access to tools to learn as possible. In some jurisdictions, acoustic treatment is required, in others, it is more of a rule of thumb or suggestion. Whichever one you fall into, we are happy to help. Western Noise Control's panels are often found in: gymnasiums, science classrooms (like the one pictured), learning commons, flex spaces, libraries, drama rooms, CTS shops, art classes, dance studios and classrooms.
