As Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, approaches, we join in celebrating this special occasion with our community! Diwali symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and good over evil, delivering a message of hope, joy, and togetherness shared by many around the world. Diwali is a five-day festival filled with colourful decorations, clay lamps, fireworks, and the sharing of sweets. Each day has its own traditions: • 𝐃𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐬 – Families clean their homes, buy gold, and for those of the Hindu faith, honour Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and fortune. • 𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐢 𝐃𝐢𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐢 – Families decorate their homes with lamps and rangoli, beautiful designs made with colourful powder or sand. • 𝐋𝐚𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐦𝐢 𝐏𝐮𝐣𝐚 – The main day of the festival, marked by clay lamps, candles, and fireworks, with prayers for prosperity and joy. • 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐮𝐣𝐚 – Friends and family exchange gifts and visit relatives. In the Hindu tradition, this is also the first day of the new year. • 𝐁𝐡𝐚𝐢 𝐃𝐨𝐨𝐣 – A day to honour the bond between siblings, celebrated with special gatherings and blessings. This Diwali, let’s celebrate its message of unity and respect, fostering understanding in our community. Happy Diwali to those who celebrate!

October is Islamic Heritage Month in Canada, a time to celebrate and recognize the important contributions of the Muslim community. Since its proclamation in 2007, this month offers a chance to explore the rich cultural, social, and historical impact Canadian Muslims have made. Throughout the month, events like cultural exhibitions, educational workshops, and community gatherings will take place across the country. These activities foster understanding, promote interfaith dialogue, and challenge stereotypes, while providing a platform for Muslims to share their stories and achievements. From arts and literature to science and social justice, Muslims have played an essential role in shaping Canada. Islamic Heritage Month encourages all Canadians to learn more about this vibrant community and celebrate its heritage. Join us in honouring Islamic Heritage Month by participating in events and engaging with resources to promote a more inclusive society. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/ggWCcrnc
