I’m not afraid to admit when I’m “late to the party”. This was definitely the case when it came to watching the documentary Only Up, which was released earlier this year. Created by Kendra Kincade and Elevate Aviation, this documentary is an informative and inspiring look at women in Canadian aviation and the roles they hold. Highlighting trailblazers and amplifying the stories of women who are fighting to make our industry a more inclusive place to work. I’ve said it before but it bears repeating, our industry has come a long way in this regard but still does have a long way to go. I was elated to several of my colleagues featured, including Nancy Krause, Suzanne Kearns, PhD, and Nordia King. Thank you all for sharing your stories and perspective and for always being an inspiration! If you haven’t had a chance to watch Only Up yet, you can catch it streaming on the in-flight entertainment on Air Canada. A kudos and thank you to our IFE team for always ensuring we have a great selection of diverse content available on board. I can’t imagine how many folks will watch this and be inspired to pursue a career in aviation. If there’s a girl or woman you know who you think may be interested in learning about careers in aviation, I recommend sharing Only Up and Elevate Aviation with them. To all the men out there, I encourage you to give this a watch and ask yourself why we don’t have more diversity across our aviation workforce?
