An eco-timber investment that can offset your carbon footprint & positively impact our planet.
About us
World Tree Investments: Eco-timber for the conscious investor. Do you love trees? Do you love farmers? Are you looking for an investment that can impact climate change? World Tree is a group of investors, business people, farmers and tree-huggers who are fighting climate change and making money through planting trees. Our program is based on the Empress Splendor Tree. Empress Splendor trees are the fastest growing hardwood trees in the world. Within just 10 years, they grow into mature trees that can be harvested and sold for lumber. We are planting trees with our network of farmers in North and Central America for the purposes of timber production and carbon sequestration. When the trees mature, they are harvested for the lumber and we share the profits with our farmers and investors.

Wishing President Jimmy Carter a very happy 100th birthday today. Decades before regenerative agriculture and sustainable forestry became central topics of climate action, President Carter planted Empress trees on his peanut farm, recognizing the environmental potential of the tree and demonstrating his forward-thinking vision. Thank you, President Carter, for your foresight, dedication, and lifelong commitment to sustainability. #jimmycarter #sustainability #climateaction #environmentalleadership #regenerativeforestry
About 20 years ago, President Jimmy Carter—always a visionary, always ahead of his time—set aside 15 acres of his peanut farm in Plains, GA, to plant Empress Splendor trees. How he discovered the fastest-growing hardwood in the world, and one of the only truly regenerative ones (literally regrowing from its stump after harvest), remains a mystery. But his foresight was clear. His trees grew to maturity, and while he used a few to craft furniture in his home woodshop, he connected with World Tree to harvest and market the rest. This photo, taken six years ago, shows our founder Wendy S Burton with President Carter shortly after the harvest of his trees. Today, his Empress trees are regrowing a new crop, continuing the legacy of sustainable forestry. Meanwhile, some of the wood from his farm was used to create a signature line of musical instruments, which were auctioned to support one of President Carter’s favorite causes—the Boys and Girls Club of Atlanta. The instruments were played by the Indigo Girls, Sierra Hull, and Jake Shimabukuro. We’ve also set aside wood from his farm for other unique projects. Some of it may be used for a special piece for the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution at George Mason University, reflecting the growing relationship between World Tree and the Smithsonian-Mason School of Conservation, as well as President Carter’s long-standing commitment to peace. As a proud GMU alumnus, I am continually impressed by their leadership in conservation and sustainability. The education they provide represents a true commitment to the future by President Gregory Washington and other GMU leaders. For those who missed it, GMU awarded President Carter an honorary doctorate today, honoring a human being who has sent ripples of hope, love, and peace throughout the world for the last 80 years. Years before Wendy Burton founded World Tree—driven by the mission of commercializing the Empress tree to protect native forests, regenerate soil, and sequester carbon—President Carter was already planting them on his farm. Like him, we believe that the Empress tree, the fastest-growing hardwood on the market, can play a pivotal role in addressing the global challenges we face. You were always ahead of your time, President Carter. Happy 100th Birthday, and thank you for a lifetime dedicated to humanity and the planet. We are all the better because of you. #jimmycarter #happybirthday
