In recognition of International Pronouns Day on October 16th, the YMCA of Lethbridge celebrates the importance of respecting personal pronouns in building a welcoming and respectful community. Our staff have embraced the opportunity to create personalized pronoun pins, a small step toward fostering deeper conversations and understanding. Thank you to our Employee Engagement Committee for making the button maker available to staff and for championing this important initiative. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue the conversation around the use and visibility of pronouns at the YMCA of Lethbridge Learn more about pronouns: https://lnkd.in/ga6i7mKi

For National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the YMCA of Lethbridge donated $3,000 to Opokaa'sin Early Intervention Society to help foster a healthy community where Indigenous children, youth, and families thrive through cultural and community support. Additionally, we gifted 100 family passes to local Indigenous organizations to access our programs, creating opportunities for connection and recreation. Let’s walk this journey together toward healing and reconciliation. opokaasin.org

As we approach the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30th, we take a moment to reflect on the legacy of residential schools and the experiences of Indigenous communities in Canada. This day is an opportunity for all of us to honour the truths of our history and deepen our understanding of Indigenous cultures. It’s not just a holiday—it’s a call for education, respect, and support. Take time to learn and reflect on how we can contribute to reconciliation by visiting https://lnkd.in/ekNErf-N

YMCA of Lethbridge reposted this
September 16 - 22 is #NationalCoachesWeek 2024, and we're excited to announce that registration is open for an upcoming Lifesaving Sport Coach course at the Cor Van Raay YMCA in Lethbridge! Lifesaving Sport Coaches are responsible for training our Lifesaving Sport athletes, but their role involves so much more. They are also teachers, role models, managers, and it's thanks to their commitment and enthusiasm that our Lifesaving Sport programs continue to thrive. In a Lifesaving Sport Coach course, you'll learn about athlete development, using equipment, designing club workouts, and preparing to participate in or host competitive events. With the 2024-2025 Lifesaving Sport season just about to start, it's a perfect time to get certified! This course is scheduled for 8:00am on Saturday, October 26, and requires a Lifesaving Instructor certification (does not need to be current!) to enroll. To register, visit the the Lethbridge YMCA website: https://lnkd.in/gDerMuQG To find more Lifesaving Sport Coach courses near you, you can also check out the Find a Course page on our website: https://lnkd.in/gnPvMwSK Thank you to our coaches for their dedication to our Lifesaving Sport program, and to our athletes! #ThanksCoach #LifesavingSport #LifesavingSportCoach #LifesavingSociety #LifesavingSocietyABNWT #LethbridgeYMCA
