Chag Sameach to those celebrating #Sukkot! Sukkot is one of the three biblically based pilgrimage festivals known as the shalosh regalim. It is an agricultural festival that originally was considered a thanksgiving for the fruit harvest. Is your restaurant or catering business preparing Thanksgiving meals this weekend? #StopTheClog!🚰 #ProtectYourPipes from FOG. Fats, Oils, and Grease are things like gravy, turkey and meat fats, salad dressing and butter. When you 🫗 pour #FOG down the sink, it quickly cools, hardens and eventually clogs pipes and sewers. Before washing pots, pans and dirty dishes, wait for FOG to harden then scrape or wipe into the #greenbin. Learn more ➡️ york.ca/ProtectYourPipes --- #YourWater

At York Region, we believe employee health and wellness is a priority every day. During #HealthyWorkplaceMonth, we're reaffirming our commitment to fostering a culture that encourages healthy habits and supports well-being. Earlier this month, our wellness ambassadors delivered locally-sourced apples from Homestead Orchards in the Town of Georgina to various Regional offices as a way to say thank you for your commitment to excellence, and to remind staff of the many resources available to support their health and well-being.

Today is the International #DayoftheGirl! For more than two decades, the International Day of the Girl has been celebrated on October 11. This day calls attention to the issues and barriers girls encounter, advocate for their rights and promote their empowerment. This year’s theme is ‘Girls’ vision for the future’, conveying both the need for urgent action and persistent hope, driven by the power of girls’ voices and vision for the future. Despite advancements in the realm of gender equality, girls continue to face barriers to equal participation in many aspects of society. Supporting girls and equipping them with the resources they require to achieve their dreams and goals, benefits everyone. #YorkRegion is committed to creating a welcoming and #inclusive environment that recognizes and celebrates all dimensions of #diversity.
