ZOR Sports Academy

ZOR Sports is a grassroots youth development organization that focuses on teaching leadership, teamwork, and discipline through the medium of sport. Our leagues, camps, development programs, and training packages range in level of instruction and cater to both the individual as well as group settings. The founders of this organization are student-athletes from the University of Toronto who understand the importance of life beyond basketball. In recognition of this, we strive to promote academic prosperity by incorporating life lessons and transferrable soft skills into our programs. For example: our summer camps feature lecturers from various backgrounds. Lectures on life, fitness, basketball history, mental health, and environmental awareness are some of the topics we have previously had presented. Combining sport with exposure to a variety of academic and trade disciplines is likely to build a child's interest in different careers and increase overall likelihood for success. Our programs are designed with the goal of inspiring and empowering our community's youth to excel in areas that are appealing to them; whether that be basketball or a subject they may have an affinity towards. Academic advisors and career counsellors will actively meet with large and small groups, as well as individuals to help with motivation and preparation for the future. ZOR Basketball was founded on the pillar of ‘effort’ – a direct translation of the Punjabi term 'Zor'. Our slogan is Effort Eliminates Doubt, as we believe (and studies show) physical and cognitive effort builds self-esteem and confidence. The more effort you invest into your craft, the more you prepare yourself, and the less likely you are to give up or fail.
