Role Overview

The Steel Pipe Sales Manager role requires a versatile approach to business, with tasks varying daily and priorities often shifting. The position begins with order entry tasks while learning about the industry, business, and products. Extensive training will help you become proficient in using the ERP system to handle inquiries, RFQs, quotes, sales and purchase orders, data analysis, and order shipments. This role offers a dynamic work environment with a significant degree of autonomy, fostering innovation and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Maintain customer and supplier information and intelligence.
  • Conduct sales and supply chain analysis.
  • Monitor sales and industry trends and take strategic action.
  • Handle customer inquiries and supplier RFQs.
  • Create and maintain item masters.
  • Expedite RFQ requests to meet quotation targets.
  • Define pricing strategy, perform pricing analysis, and prepare customer quotations.
  • Provide feedback to suppliers on RFQ offers.
  • Utilize strong negotiation skills.
  • Process customer orders and purchase orders.
  • Manage all sales and purchase orders, confirming terms, conditions, and technical specifications.
  • Expedite orders with suppliers and communicate shipment priorities.
  • Resolve shipping discrepancies with stakeholders and ensure accurate order maintenance.
  • Coordinate customer service issues related to claims with internal quality and invoicing departments.
  • Maintain account profitability.
  • Keep updated supplier cost lists and customer price lists.
  • Update customer and vendor contact lists.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to meet all account objectives.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Contribute to process improvement to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedure manuals are current and accurate.
  • Assist with knowledge and information management using enterprise software and other resources.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.

Ideal Candidate

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience, preferably in industrial distribution, international trade, or manufacturing.
  • College diploma or university degree, preferably in Business or Engineering.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Multidisciplinary self-starter with decision-making skills aligned with corporate goals and brand.
  • A passionate change agent.
  • Strong skills and experience in:
  • Sales and Relationship Management

  • Order/Data Management
  • Purchasing/Sales/Sourcing
  • Spreadsheet/Database management (especially MS Excel)
  • Enterprise Software (preferably Epicor Prophet 21 Commerce Center)
  • Communication/Analytical skills
  • Strong command of English, both written and verbal
  • Computer/Knowledge management
  • Organizational/Time management
  • Project Management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ERP, database software, and reporting tools (e.g., SAP, Epicor, MS Access, Crystal Reports, SQL).
  • Knowledge and experience with PVF and industrial products.
  • Experience with international trade.
