#CDLAlumni Ayrton Energy has closed a $9.1 million seed round, led by Clean Energy Ventures and BDC Capital (Canada). Ayrton's technology stores hydrogen at room temperature and pressure allowing hydrogen to be handled and transported over long distances while mitigating hydrogen loss and pipeline corrosion. We’re excited to welcome our Minerals Stream Moderators for CDL-Vancouver’s 2024/25 program year! Fraser Pogue will be returning to the Minerals Stream as a Moderator for a second year. Fraser is a lecturer and the Lead of the Entrepreneurship, Sustainability and Innovation Group at UBC Sauder School of Business. Fraser advises early stage researchers and startups at UBC on commercializing their novel inventions. We are excited to have Justin Bull join us as the Lead Moderator for the Minerals Stream. Justin has been a moderator in the Climate Stream at CDL-Vancouver since 2020. He is a Lecturer at UBC Sauder School of Business, Academic Director of the UBC Masters of Engineering Leadership (MEL) program, and Academic Director of the UBC Sauder's Centre for Climate and Business Solutions (CCBS). We welcome Heather Marshall, MBA to the Minerals Stream as a Moderator for Session 1. She is the site lead at CDL-Rockies and the ScaleUp Program at the Haskayne School of Business, where she leads the team in delivering programming focused on accelerating the commercial potential of technology, agrifood, and energy ventures. We're looking forward to the official start of the second programming cycle for the Minerals Stream at CDL-Vancouver later this month!

#CDLAlumni PulseMedica is one of just 14 Canadian startups, and the only one from Alberta, to be selected for the most recent cohort of Google's Startups Accelerator program. PulseMedica is using machine learning to develop a non-invasive platform to diagnose and treat retinal diseases. “The cohort will receive mentorship and technical project support from Google and Google Cloud, deep dives and workshops focused on areas like product design, customer acquisition, and leadership development—and will tackle sprint projects focused on the development of their AI and machine learning technology,” says Iran Karimian, Head of the Accelerator & Startup Ecosystem, Google Canada.
