About us

The Excellence through Quality Improvement Project (E-QIP) is a Quality Improvement program focused on leadership and capacity building led by Addictions and Mental Health Ontario (AMHO) and the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), Ontario with direct support from and in close partnership with the Provincial System Support Program (PSSP) at CAMH. E-QIP is funded by and delivered in collaboration with Ontario Health. The project promotes and supports the use of evidence-based assessment tools to do quality improvement (QI) and aims to improve mental health and addiction care in the community. The project supports agencies to achieve this vision by: 1) Increasing QI adoption, culture and capacity 2) Increasing the uptake of standardized tools and datasets and the use of data for decision-making and planning, and 3) Identification and development of QI indicators for the community MHA sector aligned to provincial priorities and embedded within a provincial performance framework as developed by Ontario Health E-QIP works collaboratively with the Mental Health and Addictions Centre of Excellence at Ontario Health to foster a data driven approach to improving care in the community mental health and addiction sector and to support the implementation of The Roadmap to Wellness.

  • E-QIP is thrilled to be kicking off our Advancing QI and Measurement Community of Practice (CoP) this morning. The last time this group met was in June and we are looking forward to reconnecting with past CoP members and meeting new ones. It is not too late to join our CoP! This group meets once monthly for one hour to discuss and share learnings on a variety of topics including Family Engagement in QI (November), Client Engagement in QI (December) and measurement Based care (May.)   • Did you know E-QIP offers a FREE Foundations to Quality Improvement (QI) e-Learning course? Details below! ⬇ E-QIP’s Foundations to QI (IDEAS) e-learning course is a FREE comprehensive quality improvement (QI) course designed for the community mental health and addiction sector based on the Model for Improvement (MFI). Participants who complete this course will have the necessary skills to confidently use QI tools and methods and participate in QI projects and initiatives at their home organization or workplace. E-QIP is pleased to offer this course in both English and French. This course is completely asynchronous (self-guided) and uses a variety of learning tools and techniques including an MHA-based case study, videos, learning activities and knowledge checks to reinforce key concepts. Learners are encouraged to reflect and document their learnings throughout the course in their course workbook. This course will take approximately 8-12 hours to complete.   • Meet Maryann! Dr. Maryann Roebuck is the Director of Integration, Research and Evaluation at CMHA Ottawa and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Ottawa. She conducted her postdoctoral fellowship at the Centre for Research on Educational and Community Services at the University of Ottawa where she worked with CMHA Ottawa to develop and implement decision support dashboards. She uses mixed methods to build the evidence base of community mental health interventions, such as Housing First and Intensive Case Management, and she works to expand the research and evaluation capacity of community-based organizations. She has a Master’s of Social Work and a Ph.D. in Community Psychology, and teaches Program Evaluation and Community Psychology courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels.   • Meet Lamia! Lamia Moheb (She/her) is a Quality Improvement Specialist at the Knowledge Institute on Child and Youth Mental Health and Addictions. With a background in pharmacy, she holds certifications as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Project Management Professional, Change Management Professional, and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) Professional. Lamia has led numerous impactful projects, including the recent Quest cohort program.
