As (E2E) Elevate 2 Educate Take A Hike Build A School continues to evolve and expand across North America and eventually to multiple countries and continents, I am deeply committed to ensuring the success of each event. Through site inspections at new resorts and hiking trails, I make sure we have ample parking, great hiking trails, indoor facilities, and plenty of space for networking and collaboration. These elements are crucial to creating inspiring experiences while supporting a great cause. I am incredibly excited to be part of this journey, aiming to build 100 schools around the world over the next decade through the LYNK Foundation. https://lnkd.in/gn-jMeT3 Together with E2E Elevate 2 Educate, we are addressing mental health awareness, alleviating poverty, and providing access to clean drinking water, food security, and education. Please join us in making a difference. Visit www.HikingFundraiser.com to learn more about our mission, vision, and how you can get involved. Take a hike. It’ll be good for you. Here are five reasons why. 1. Physical fitness: Hiking is a great way to stay active and improve your health. It helps strengthen muscles, improve balance, and burn calories, especially if being chased by a family of relentless squirrels after your trail mix. (Do not give in.) Good luck! 2. Mental health: Spending time in nature has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. Hiking can provide a sense of calm and relaxation, and being surrounded by natural beauty can improve mood and mental well-being. Don’t worry about the squirrels. They’re only good in short spurts. You can outrun them. 3. Connection to nature: Hiking allows you to immerse yourself in the natural world, away from the hustle and bustle. It's a great way to appreciate the outdoors, take in fresh air, and reconnect with the environment. Is that a bear? 4. Social interaction: Hiking can be a great social activity, providing an opportunity to hang out with friends and family. It's a great way to share experiences, create lasting memories, or decide if you need new friends. 5. Adventure: Hiking allows you to discover new places, challenge yourself physically and mentally, and can be a rewarding and exciting way to break out of your routine and try something different. So the next time you’re with friends, tell them to take a hike too! They’ll know that you’re wishing them an outdoor experience to remember. Or not. Oops.

In addition to improving cardiovascular and pulmonary health, hiking utilizes many of the body's major muscle groups. Climbing uphill engages the glutes, quadriceps, hamstrings, knees, and calves, while hiking downhill further incorporates the ankles, feet, and hips. In short, hiking is a full leg workout.

Research shows that time in forests and nature will help you to decrease stress, lower blood pressure, re-calibrate the body and mind to a feeling of peace and wellbeing. After a couple of hours in the forest, you reset your focus, thinking gets sharper, decision making improves and you are more creative. Today, from the quiet morning ambiance of the Air Canada Lounge at YVR (Vancouver International Airport), I find myself reflecting on a journey that has been anything but easy. There were days, many more than I care to admit, when the thought of continuing seemed beyond me. Days when my body screamed in exhaustion and my spirit wavered under the weight of challenge. On these days, the comfort of giving up whispered seductively, tempting me to break the commitment I made not just to myself, but to a cause much greater. But here I am, pushing through. Because on February 1st, I made a promise—a commitment to tackle the 23 Day 2,000 Push-Ups Challenge in support of Mental Health Awareness. It was a vow not taken lightly, a testament to the power of commitment and the resilience of the human spirit. This morning, amidst travelers and the clinking of coffee cups, I completed my daily quota of 150 push-ups. Each push-up felt like a reaffirmation of my dedication, not just to the challenge, but to the vital cause it supports. Mental health is a journey filled with its own set of challenges, much like this physical test I've undertaken. It's a path that requires support, understanding, and a community that stands together, unyielding in the face of adversity. I am infinitely grateful for my Elevate 2 Educate (E2E) Team, an incredible group of souls spread across the globe, each committed to this challenge, each doing their part in solidarity for mental health awareness. Their strength fuels my own, reminding me that no matter how solitary the path may seem, we are never truly alone. To those of you also taking on this Push-Ups challenge, or any challenge in support of mental health or personal growth, I see you. I feel the weight of your struggles and the strength of your resolve. How is the journey going for you? Whether it’s been a path of triumph or trial, I’d love to hear your story. Let's share our experiences, support each other, and keep pushing forward, one day, one push-up at a time. Drop a comment below and let's connect through our shared commitment to making a difference.
