Invenergy had a great time at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Annual Conference last week! We appreciated the opportunity to hear directly from Ontario municipalities, who play a crucial role in the planning and development of energy infrastructure in their jurisdictions. We look forward to working with the municipalities as Invenergy brings more renewable energy projects to the province.

Invenergy était présente au Pow Wow de la Première Nation Wolastoqiyik Wahsipekuk les 17 et 18 août, pour y présenter le projet de parc éolien Pohénégamook–Picard–Saint-Antonin–Wolastokuk (PPAW) développé en partenariat égalitaire avec l’Alliance de l'énergie de l'Est dont la Nation fait partie. C’était un plaisir de discuter avec les membres de la communauté des opportunités de formations pour les emplois d’opération et de maintenance qui se mettront en place au cours des prochains mois, des mesures de protection de l’environnement et d’harmonisation des usages du territoire, des retombées économiques durant la construction et l’exploitation, des bénéfices qui pourront être investis dans leurs propres projets et de répondre aux questions des visiteurs. C’est un grand privilège que de continuer à tisser des liens plus forts avec ce partenaire incontournable, et de pouvoir le faire dans un contexte aussi festif, amical et fraternel que leur Pow Wow annuel. --- Invenergy was present at the Wolastoqiyik Washipekuk First Nation Pow Wow on August 17 and 18, to present the Pohénégamook–Picard–Saint-Antonin–Wolastokuk (PPAW) wind energy centre developed in equal partnership with the Alliance de l’énergie de l’Est, of which the Nation is a member. It was a pleasure to discuss with community members the operations and maintenance job training opportunities that will be implemented in the coming months, the environmental protection measures and harmonization of land use, the economic benefits during construction and operation, the profits that can be invested in their own projects, and to answer visitors’ questions. It is a great privilege to continue to build stronger ties with this essential partner, and to be able to do so in a context as festive, friendly and fraternal as their annual Pow Wow.

His track record and credibility in the renewable energy industry make him a valuable asset for Invenergy. Since joining the company, he has been instrumental in bringing major wind power projects under contract with Hydro-Québec, totalling 640 MW, as well as developing new sites in Quebec and in the Atlantic. C’est avec beaucoup de fierté que notre équipe du Québec a participé à une audience publique devant le Bureau d’audiences publiques sur l’environnement concernant le projet de parc éolien Pohénégamook-Picard-Saint-Antonin-Wolastokuk (PPAW), un projet éolien développé par Invenergy en partenariat égalitaire avec l’Alliance de l'énergie de l'Est.   Faisant de la consultation citoyenne et de l’acceptabilité sociale le socle de son approche, Invenergy a eu l'occasion de présenter en détail son projet, répondre aux questions de la population et faire état de toutes les mesures déployées pour protéger l’environnement en plus de démontrer que le futur parc éolien s’inscrit dans une véritable perspective de développement durable.  L’équipe a aussi entendu et lu plusieurs témoignages positifs venant de représentants d’organisations de la région du Bas-Saint-Laurent qui supportent PPAW. --- It was with great pride that our Quebec team took part in the public hearing before the Bureau d'audiences publiques sur l'environnement regarding the Pohénégamook-Picard-Saint-Antonin-Wolastokuk (PPAW) Wind Energy Centre project, developed by Invenergy in equal partnership with the Alliance de l’énergie de l’Est.     With citizen consultation and community acceptance as the cornerstone of our approach, Invenergy had the opportunity to present the project in detail and answer questions from the public, outline all the measures deployed to protect the environment, and share the sustainable development principles behind the project. The team also heard and read many positive testimonies supporting PPAW from representatives from various organizations from the Bas-Saint Laurent region. 

Le projet éolien d’Invenergy Pohénégamook-Picard-Saint-Antonin-Wolastokuk (PPAW) a été retenu par Hydro-Québec en mars 2023 à l’issue d’un appel d’offres destiné à produire de l'énergie renouvelable et répondre aux besoins de la province. Il consiste à l’implantation de 56 éoliennes et bénéficie d'un contrat d'achat d'électricité d'une puissance de 349.8 MW. Le projet permettra la création de 350 emplois durant la phase de construction et de 23 emplois permanents en phase d’exploitation. L'investissement d'un milliard de dollars devrait livrer ses premiers mégawatt d’électricité en décembre 2026. Surtout, il s’intègre harmonieusement dans le milieu et prévoit des redevances significatives pour les communautés d’accueil. Ce sont toutes les MRC de l'Est-du-Québec, de Montmagny jusqu'aux Îles-de-la-Madeleine ainsi que la Première Nation Wolastoqiyik Wahsipekuk qui vont profiter des retombées économiques et sociales. Bravo à toute l’équipe ! #energierenouvelable #BAPE #Éolienne #ÉolienneQuébec --- Invenergy’s wind project, Pohénégamook-Picard-Saint-Antonin-Wolastokuk (PPAW), developed in partnership with Alliance de l'Énergie de l'Est, was selected by Hydro-Québec in March 2023 following a call for proposals to produce renewable energy in order to meet the province's needs. The project includes 56 wind turbines and benefits from a 349.8 MW power purchase agreement. The project will create 350 jobs during the construction phase and 23 permanent jobs during operation. The billion-dollar investment is scheduled to deliver its first megawatt of electricity in December 2026. Above all, it blends harmoniously into the surrounding environment and will provide significant royalties for the host communities. All the regional county municipalities of Eastern Quebec, from Montmagny to the Magdalen Islands, as well as the Wolastoqiyik Wahsipekuk First Nation, will benefit from the positive economic and social impacts.
