Companies should do training on this: Physical and mental rest are just two parts of the puzzle. I was reading the book "Sacred Rest" by Dr Daunton-Smith, and the message resonated with me. According to her, there are actually 7 types of rest: 1. Physical Rest This includes activities like sleeping, napping, or even yoga. 2. Mental Rest This involves scheduling short breaks throughout a work day to slow down. 3. Emotional Rest An emotionally unrested person lacks the courage to answer questions properly. This involves stopping people pleasing and taking time to focus on yourself. 4. Social Rest This refers to differentiating which relationships serve you, and which don't. Surround yourself with people who lift you and engage fully. 5. Creative Rest This is about allowing yourself to enjoy the great outdoors. For me, I like to barbeque outside when the weather is nice! 6. Sensory Rest I like to take breaks away to sit in nature, which helps calm my mind. Bright lights and computer screens can cause our senses to be overwhelmed. 7. Spiritual Rest This is the ability to connect beyond the physical and mental. If you're religious, this involves praying, but for others, meditation can help this.
