We've kicked off a brand new content experience surrounding the biggest event in esports thanks to our new partnership with Progressive Insurance! It has already begun with a new feature-length ICONICS documentary that looks at the most iconic moments in League of Legends history. In many ways, our esports journey started with League of Legends, and Worlds has defined many of the twists and turns that have come since. Throughout the tournament, we'll provide regular updates on the top storylines, on-the-ground looks into the action and fan-featured short-form content. We'll tie it all together with an exclusive documentary after the event that will chronicle the entire event like only theScore esports can. Again, thanks to our sponsor Progressive for helping us bring our fans an unrivalled content experience surrounding the biggest event in esports. In this weeks Run it Down, Keith Capstick unpacks to two of the biggest stories in the world of gaming: 🎮 Valve’s new game, Deadlock, is taking over the gaming and streaming world   It’s not officially launched yet, but Valve has started to allow people to stream and talk about the game publicly and early indications suggest that people absolutely love this game. It’s the first arena shooter game MOBA that is actually good  It’ll be exciting to see if this game will push into the pro esports scene and establish it’s own competitive ecosystem.  🥇 Chinese Valorant team Edward Gaming wins Valorant Champions! EDG defeated team Heretics in the finals, which many are saying was the best international finals in the history of the game. Valorant is proving itself to be one of the most global esports in the world and the game really feels like it represents just how far esports can reach right now. As always, thanks for tuning into another episode of #RunItDown and be sure comment your thoughts or stories you want featured! 🙏 #esports #gaming #thescore #valorant #deadlock

    Partnerships at theScore

The best sponsorships bring something that wouldn't otherwise exist without them. For nearly a decade, theScore esports has made its name by bringing fans documentaries that combine endemic storytelling with high production value. That said, we typically have to rely on fair use footage and remote interviews to create them. But sometimes a partner helps us take things to another level -- and this month Cash App did just that for the Evolution Championship Series. This partnership enabled our team to travel to Las Vegas to document the tournament in-person -- building the story as it was developing, capturing first-party footage, and interviewing the casters and players as the tournament was happening -- including Arslan Ash as he completed the otherworldly accomplishment of a fifth #Tekken Evo title. The result was our latest exclusive documentary that will serve as the definitive piece on this historic run -- one not only beloved by the fighting game community, but as you can see below, Arslan himself. Check it out for yourself here: https://lnkd.in/g-dP6G2w #Evo #FGC #ArslanAsh

Technology and esports will forever be linked.     As PC hardware and peripherals improve, so do the games, and the players who dominate them.     Last week, on our news show ‘Don’t @ Me’ Devin Coull did a deep dive on Razer’s Snap Tap keyboard tech and its potential impact on the competitive integrity of first-person shooter gameplay.     Snap Tap allows you to prioritize the latest input on a key, without having to release the previous one, which makes techniques like counter-strafing seamless in-game. Some tournament organizers (including Valve) have deemed this to reduce the challenge of this refined in-game skill and have banned it from their tournaments.     1️⃣ It’s important that at the highest level, players are awarded for their mastery of the games, so acting on features like this that can potentially reduce a game’s skill cap benefits the competitive environment    2️⃣ That in mind, this is really cool technology that can benefit casual-competitive players and make their lives easier 3️⃣ Esports will continue to have to balance this relationship between tech and competition going forward    4️⃣ Tech is undeniably tied to the advancement of the scene, and adapting when possible while maintaining competitive integrity at the highest level is crucial in the future #thescore #esports #business #news #technology

With IEM cologne wrapped and Valorant Champions Tour heating up, these are two massive events in the esports calendar and whether you’re an FPS fan or not, the outcome of these events will shape the talk around the industry for the next several months.     📺 State of Streaming: Youtube Dominating   Stream Charts recently released their analysis of the Q2 streaming landscape around the internet and main points are:   1️⃣ Youtube Live increased 20.5% from previous quarter to 15.2B hours watched   2️⃣ Twitch decreased 11.8% to 4.8B hours watched - mainly due to competition   3️⃣ Youtube still dwarfs all the competition when it comes to overall content due to their robust VOD offering The fact is, more than anything, gamers are watching VOD content     Thanks for tuning into another episode of Run it Down and as always, comment your thoughts below!     #runitdown #esports #business #gaming #thescore
