About us
Opportunity is calling. The Bob Gaglardi School of Business & Economics will prepare you to answer. From entry-level certificates to Master’s degrees, and many majors, minors, and specialization options, you can customize your Business education to suit your career goals. The Bob Gaglardi School of Business & Economics has dedicated itself to the design and delivery of quality educational programs that are “global in perspective, accessible by design” and enable learners to achieve their full potential either in the workplace or further academic study. The School has evolved over the past 35 years. Starting out as part of a community college, the School now spans the globe with programs and alumni. We have not abandoned our roots and still offer certificate and diploma programs. Yet at the same time we are at the forefront of Canadian business education with the most flexible MBA in Canada being offered through online, on-campus or blended delivery on a full or part-time basis. Although we are based in Kamloops, our reach is far. We graduate over 200 students a year with our partner universities in China. As an institution, we are the academic credit bank for British Columbia, allowing academic credits earned at other non-public institutions or through work or life experiences to be compiled into one TRU credential. We are the BC leader in online learning, where our students can earn a business certificate, diplomas, degrees and an MBA. We are an open-access institution, creating pathways for all students regardless of academic background.

I was not a frequent user of LinkedIn when I graduated from the Gagliardi School of Business and Economics at Thompson Rivers University back in 2022, and I’ve always regretted not fully celebrating the achievement of my Master of Business Administration degree at the time. Time to celebrate!🎉🎉🎉 This program blew my expectations out of the water. It was 100x better than I had ever expected. From my experience, the focus of the business professors at TRU is not on research, which some may look at as a detriment to the University. On the contrary. Their focus is on TEACHING. Because of this, I received a business education well beyond what can be expected of the big research schools. The problem at these research institutes is their teaching professors are stuck in their own research with little to no time for their students. I received so much guidance, advice, and skilled teaching throughout my MBA experience at TRU, I could not be more thankful for the connections that I made and the amazing teaching professors that I worked with along the way. What is an organization without its output? In my opinion TRU’s most valuable output is its highly educated alumni, and I am so thankful to be included on that list. Thank you to my peers, my professors, the institution, and my family for supporting and guiding me along the way. Signing off, Jake Boyle, MBA
