🎉 We are proud to share that Caren Lombard, Faculty Member and Academic lead for the #SME Climate Clinic at UBC Sauder, has been recognized as a UBC Sustainability Fellow! 👏🌍 Caren has been instrumental in advancing climate-focused education through her work, including creating #COMM486E: Climate-Focused ESG Reporting and Analysis – the flagship course for the SME Climate Clinic. This course gives students hands-on experience in sustainability reporting, bridging #academic learning with #practical climate solutions. 🌱📚 As part of the UBC Sustainability Fellows program, Caren, alongside Tamara E. and Qingshi Tu, PhD, will work across faculties such as UBC Faculty of Forestry and UBC Civil Engineering. This cross-faculty collaboration marks a significant step forward in integrating sustainability literacy into diverse disciplines, with a particular focus on #carbonaccounting, embodied carbon, and #lifecycle analysis. Congratulations to Caren and her fellow Sustainability Fellows! We look forward to seeing this initiative inspire impactful climate solutions across UBC. #Sustainability #ClimateEducation #CarbonAccounting #CrossFacultyCollaboration #UBCSauder #ClimateSolutions UBC Sauder School of Business https://lnkd.in/gnGKKsna

We're thrilled to see our flagship SME Climate Clinic in the MEC Sustainability Progress Report. At the Centre for Climate and Business Solutions, we know that many small brands are working hard to reduce their environmental impact but lack the resources to quantify their efforts. That’s why the SME Climate Clinic is focused on giving them the tools to measure and reduce carbon emissions, helping them respond to #increasingdemands for emissions data from customers committed to climate targets. We're proud to have MEC as our first Supply Chain Partner, supporting BC-based #SMEs in their #climate journey. The Clinic is running more cohorts to support SMEs and students as they work together to drive real climate action! 🌍 Reach out to us at climatecentre@sauder.ubc.ca to be considered for this upcoming cohort! About the SME Climate Clinic: https://lnkd.in/gaN-xjZ8 CC: Caren Lombard UBC Sauder School of Business
MEC’s latest sustainability report has arrived. This annual progress report lets us look back on the work we’ve done and see where we need to improve. Stuff we’re stoked on: ✔️ For the second year in a row, MEC decreased our total GHG emissions ✔️ MEC Label more than doubled the percentage of recycled nylon in our products ✔️ We saw a significant increase in brand partners who are tracking their GHG emissions and are setting goals to reduce them 2023 also presented a tough lesson: MEC missed our annual recycled content goal. While we’re disappointed we didn’t quite get there, we’ve got next year’s goals ahead of us, and we’re not stopping now. For all the details on our latest sustainability report, check it out at https://lnkd.in/guScK4ek
