➤ Interview dans Le Temps du Professeur Jean-Philippe Assal Cher Jean-Philippe, tu as été notre maître qui a ouvert la voie d’une médecine humaniste et tu as été le pionnier à te battre inlassablement pour offrir une éducation thérapeutique aux patients et une participation active à leur parcours de soins. Nous avons tous appris à pratiquer une meilleure médecine avec toi et j’ai eu le privilège de t’accompagner dans cette mission et c’était pour moi un moment clé de mon parcours professionnel. On parle beaucoup aujourd’hui du « patient au centre des soins » et du « patient partenaire » mais tu avais déjà ouvert la voie il y a plusieurs décennies. Tes collaborateurs t’ont suivi et ont maintenant repris le flambeau d’une stratégie qui est aujourd’hui reconnue par l’Organisation Mondiale de la Santé. >>> 20th Anniversary of OsiriX Imaging Software <<< The OsiriX project began in November 2003 when Antoine Rosset, funded by a grant from the Swiss National Research Fund, embarked on a fellowship at UCLA under the guidance of Professor Osman Ratib, then vice-chair of radiology at UCLA. The first version of OsiriX was released by Antoine in June 2004 and was showcased at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2004 in San Francisco. Although it did not initially attract significant attention from Apple engineers, the concept gained momentum when the first scientific paper on OsiriX was published by Antoine in the Journal of Digital Imaging in September of that year, quickly becoming a key reference. A year later, OsiriX was presented again at WWDC 2005 by Antoine and Osman on the main stage, following the keynote address by Steve Jobs. It earned two prestigious Apple Design Awards: Best Use of Open Source and Best Mac OS X Scientific Computing Solution. OsiriX rapidly became the most widely used open-source medical imaging platform worldwide. In 2009, it was adopted as the official DICOM viewer for the Radiology Department of the Geneva University Hospital, supported by Professor Ratib, who had returned to Geneva as the department's chair. In March 2009, Antoine Rosset, Joris Heuberger, and Osman Ratib established the OsiriX Foundation to promote open-source medical informatics. This non-profit foundation provides grants to students for developing medical software and organizes awards to encourage advancements in digital imaging and image-processing software. In February 2010, Antoine Rosset and Joris Heuberger founded Pixmeo, a company dedicated to developing and distributing a certified version (CE, FDA, ANVISA) of OsiriX. Today, OsiriX celebrates over 20 years of success, boasting more than 1,000,000 users and over 20,000 downloads per month. It is utilized in more than 190 countries across 100,000 institutions.
