Our ecosystem suffers from a significant gap in aggregated data regarding SME fund returns, fund models and fund structures, resulting in a critical lack of benchmarks for LPs to rely on. To address this, I&P and the Argidius Foundation launched together a research project aiming at providing comprehensive insights on SME funds across the continent.
Over the last six months, I&P conducted an extensive quantitative and qualitative study, analyzing more than 135 SME funds and conducting interviews with over 35 stakeholders in the SME fund ecosystem, including both LPs and GPs. We are thrilled to release the results of this effort in our latest publication: "How Can African SME Funds Mobilize More Capital? Data and Lessons from Pioneering LPs and GPs."

The report delivers actionable insights, including:
- A thorough analysis of SME fund performance, models and structures across Africa
- A deep dive into the current fundraising environment for SME funds
- Practical examples on how LPs and GPs successfully navigate systemic and fundraising barriers to make impactful investments in SMEs.
