New biogas plant, green gas events, and hydrogen-news🌱🌍 A lot is happening in Axpo Group’s Green Gases division in this weeks. That's why we want to share with you a few highlights. From events, new partnerships, and insights from recent initiatives. 💧 Inspiring the Next Generation Last week, we welcomed a group of students from Bildungszentrum Gesundheit und Soziales (BGS) for an exclusive tour of our hydrogen production plant in Domat/Ems. Through virtual reality and live demonstrations, they explored green hydrogen’s potential and Axpo's sustainability vision. Furthermore, our H2 plant also appears in the current Graubündner Kantonalbank magazine. https://lnkd.in/ePqbxZzQ ⚡ Power-to-X DAYS & European Hydrogen Week Axpo remains at the forefront of two key industry discussions. Our Head Hydrogen Guy Bühler will be on stage at the Power-to-X-Conference in Schlieren. And of course our H2-Team will be part of the European Hydrogen Week in Brussels to discuss the future of hydrogen and green gases. 💡 First Biogas Investment in Poland Axpo’s first Polish #biogas plant in Stare Ślepce processes 20 000 tonnes of agricultural waste into green energy, significantly reducing CO2 emissions and expanding Axpo’s green energy portfolio. 🚌 #Decarbonisation of transport There are also new developments in the Arv'Hy project in the French Haute-Savoie. Starting in spring 2025, a hydrogen filling station will begin operating and supply a fleet of hydrogen vehicles with fuel. An important step towards zero-emission logistics and heavy goods transport in Europe. 🚀 Innovation with start-ups Looking for innovative #H2 quality measurement solutions through the VERBUND X Accelerator, Axpo partnered with voestalpine to develop a potential solution together with HY-QM, a spinoff of EMCEL GmbH. #greengas #hydrogen #innovation #power #biogas

💡 ... and it's a wrap for #RESource2024. Once again, 30 energy experts from Axpo Netherlands, Axpo France, Axpo Benelux, Axpo Nordic, Axpo Deutschland, Axpo Energy Romania, Axpo Iberia, Axpo Italia, Axpo UK & Ireland, Türkiye, Hungary and beyond came together in Amsterdam to discuss innovative #energysolutions for #renewableenergy procurement. 💭 "Southeast Europe is an exciting market but every organisation has specific needs, its own purchasing time horizon and a very different risk appetite. Thanks to our large portfolio and in-depth expertise, #Axpo is one of the few organisations that can bring it all together. We are not a broker, we truly understand local challenges and can systematically manage the whole range of risks.” emphasised Domenico Franceschino, Head of Western and Eastern Europe Origination in the "Market zoom: Croatia, Greece, Bulgaria" session. ☕ Thank you to all those who stopped by our stand for a coffee, a handshake or a chat about #PowerPurchaseAgreement, managing risks or the latest energy market trends. 👌🏼 Great team work with: Jeremiah Tops, Janosch Abegg, Emilio Molina Ibáñez, Botond Lichtl, Alexandra V., Adrien Rosen, Anja Güllmeister, Jaime Cano Rodríguez-Arias, FRM, Jorge Trallero Mena, Michiel Rutgers, Siddharth Unni, Ana Vasile, Peter Hornyak, Lauri Konsén, Julián Serrano Arrabal, Nicole Colla, Laura Maliardi, Louisa Merck, Aymeric Sire, Alexander Hunink, Pär Gustavsson, Ismail Cildir, Nezir Çakır, Ross McHardy, Kateryna Somyk, Tristan Amirault, Quentin Harlé, Harri Piipponen, Louis Chesneau, Lisa Givert (MSc) & Simina Marca. 🗓️ See you next year!

🔋 Strong regulatory frameworks will be pivotal in unlocking the capital required for the energy transition. As the #FTEnergy Transition Summit kicked off in London on Tuesday, Domenico Franceschino, Axpo Group’s Head of Origination West & East Europe, joined other thought leaders on a panel to discuss the most pressing questions around #financing requirements, #investment trends, and obstacles in the #renewables market as energy providers and customers embark on their journey to achieve ambitious #decarbonisation targets. Among his key messages: 💡 There is good appetite for financing renewable energy assets in European countries and little need for subsidies. However, more support is required to upgrade and expand the grid to tackle intermittency issues and allow for a stable renewable energy supply. ⭐ Stability in the regulatory framework, especially to obtain licenses and permits, stimulates long-term investment. 🗨 “We do need to have a strong legal and regulatory framework to be able to understand, hedge and manage the risk stemming from the situation where the grid is under too much stress, which leads to reduced power production.” 💬 “For me, what is required is not per se the financing of a renewable energy plant, it is more upgrading of the grid, expediting regulatory aspects, the licenses and providing further stability.” 🤝 Thank you for a great discussion Emiliya Mychasuk.

🍃 Powering the wind of change. 🤝 #Axpo and Borealis, one of the world's leaders in sustainable polyolefin solutions, have signed two new Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for over 900 GWh of #WindPower from VLEEMO NV, produced in the Port of Antwerp-Bruges. ✅ The two PPAs start in 2026 and last until 2030 and 2035, helping Borealis to reduce its emissions by approximately 155 kilotons over the next decade and achieve 100% renewable electricity by 2030. 🎤“I’m delighted to continue our partnership with Borealis. These new agreements demonstrate Axpo’s long-term commitment to providing innovative and renewable #EnergySolutions that meet our clients’ energy requirements.” said Domenico Franceschino, Axpo Head of Origination for Eastern and Western Europe. ⚡ "Signing another two new PPAs [...] is a continuation of our strategic #sustainability journey. At the same time, it underscores our commitment to strengthen relationships with local renewable energy providers in the communities where we operate.” added Thomas Van De Velde, Borealis Senior Vice President of Base Chemicals and Energy. ➡️ Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eHh9bNBR 📸 Wind turbines located on the right bank of the Port of Antwerp © Vleemo #EnergyNews #PowerPurchaseAgreement #PPA

🤔 Is it a yurt? 👇 Nope, it's our first biogas plant in Poland! 🎊 We’ve officially entered the Polish #biogas market! 🤝 #Axpo has made its first investment in Poland by acquiring the Stare Ślepce plant, in Western Pomerania – a facility that produces #GreenEnergy mainly from agricultural waste. 💡 The biogas plant produces yearly 6,640 megawatt-hours of electricity along with 'digestate,' an organic fertilizer with a zero-carbon footprint. While the generated electricity feeds into Axpo's green energy portfolio, local farmers use the digestate to fertilise their soil. 🌱 🗨 “Renewable gas is key to the decarbonisation of the agricultural sector and the energy transition, so we are looking forward to developing biogas projects in Poland as well." said Véronique Abrate, Head of Biogas International. 🎤 “Poland represents a large share of the European agricultural sector, making it an attractive market for developing projects using agricultural waste for the production of energy.” added Axpo Polska Managing Director Grzegorz Bilinski. ⚡ With new biogas projects underway in Portugal, Italy and now Poland, #Axpo is set to expand its green-gas supply network across Europe.
