Here's a snapshot of the latest #BiopôleNews: 👏 Vandria SA has secured $30.7 million (CHF 28.3 million) in Series A funding to advance groundbreaking mitophagy therapies, which can rejuvenate cells and treat age-related and chronic diseases. 🤝 We are now offering our Vanguard Accelerator programme in partnership with Swiss Healthcare Startups, thereby expanding the network to which participants have access. 👋 biped robotics' AI mobility vest for blind and visually impaired people, called Navigation, Obstacle, Artificial intelligence (NOA), has now made a successful market entry in ten countries – and will soon be launching in the US. 🏆 The Co-Founders of HAYA Therapeutics won the inaugural Andreas & Thomas Streungmann Award for entrepreneurial vision and talent in the life sciences within the DACH region. 🔬 Vanarix has developed and recently patented a method for the production of Cartibeads™ to treat cartilage lesions. The company has already completed a Phase I/IIa clinical trial, with another underway. 👀 PeriVision has entered into a distribution agreement with Von Hoff, a leading ophthalmic medical device distributor in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, to commercialise its VisionOne VR eye testing platform with an initial focus on visual field testing for glaucoma. 🧪 Testmate Health was recently featured in an article from EU-Startups, highlighting companies that are developing innovative at-home urine tests and products. Today, we’d like to take you through the success story of biotech company Alithea Genomics, charting its remarkable journey at Biopôle. 👶 Alithea Genomics was co-founded back in May 2020 by Riccardo Dainese (CEO), Daniel Alpern (CTO) and Prof. Bart Deplancke (Scientific Advisor). 🚀 In 2021, Alithea Genomics joined the Biopôle campus with one bench at StartLab and received the Biopôle Start-up Fund for the first time. 📈 Fast-forward to 2023, Alithea Genomics received funding from the Biopôle Start-up Fund for the second time, providing invaluable support as the company’s need for lab space, reagents and materials rapidly increased. 🏢 Also in 2023, Alithea Genomics moved to a bespoke 300 m2 space in the new Serine building, with work benches, desk space and a cafeteria for all 12 of its employees. 🪴 Thus far in 2024, Alithea Genomics has successfully closed its Seed Financing Extension, marking a significant step forward in the company’s journey to revolutionise large-scale RNA sequencing and transcriptomics. 💬 In the words of CEO Riccardo Dainese, ‘we have no plans to move out anytime soon.’ Please join us in congratulating the Alithea Genomics team on all of their recent successes and wishing them a very bright future here at Biopôle!

As the new gateway to our thriving life sciences community, these buildings are shaping up to be state-of-the-art facilities for innovation and collaboration. 🔬 Arginine, Valine and Trypto will offer over 20,000 m² of highly flexible office and laboratory space, designed to meet the evolving needs of life sciences companies of all shapes and sizes. With customisable floor plans, shared amenities and a focus on sustainability – thanks to green roofs and solar panels – these spaces are truly future-ready! 🏔 Set to be operational in 2025, the buildings will also boast stunning views over Lake Geneva and the Alps, providing an inspiring environment.
