Cerbios-Pharma SA and its Proveo division just concluded an intense week at #WADC San Diego 2024. As always, it has been a pleasure to meet all the friends and colleagues here and we are now excited about all the news and all new opportunities which came up at the event. This year, the occasion was even more special as it was anticipated with the news that Cerbios had been shortlisted as one of the best #CDMOs for the WADC Awards. We are proud to be part of the #ADC community, and this nomination is a recognition of the contribution we are giving to this class of therapeutics thanks to the #passion and the #knowledge of our team and to the strong #collaboration with our customers and partners. We will continue this journey fully committed to deliver the highest standard of services to our customers and making all efforts to contribute to the innovation of these molecules. Our investment plan in this field will continue to add more GMP capacity and technologies for linker-payloads and for the conjugation to the DS as well as to further expand and strengthen our R&D and analytical capacity. People make the difference: an exchange of words with Massimo Maffioli, Supply Chain Director at Cerbios-Pharma SA. We are delighted to present this interview with Massimo, Supply Chain Director, who explains how strategically essential the contribution of the supply chain department is in ensuring the constant production of APIs/medicines, not only for Cerbios-Pharma SA but also for all pharmaceutical companies. With this goal in mind, focusing on solid relationships with diversified suppliers can be a successful strategy. Massimo indeed says that the COVID-19 health emergency highlighted severe vulnerabilities in global supply chains, particularly in the pharmaceutical sector. The reliance on external suppliers and the concentration of production in specific geographic areas led to production disruptions, making access to vital treatments complicated. Massimo delves into the topic: “Cerbios has always been characterized by building strong and effective interpersonal relationships with its suppliers, who have become strategic partners for mutual success. The fundamental principles of these relationships include constant and clear communication, which fosters a shared vision and enables effective collaboration in risk management, in order to minimize the effects of supply disruptions or material shortages. People are therefore essential and distinctive actors both in these relationships and in adopting proactive strategies to manage supply continuity while maintaining high quality. This is crucial to guarantee a competitive advantage in the market and achieve both short-term and long-term goals for the company.” In recent times, reshoring and sustainability are also influencing the redesign of the global supply chain. In this context, industrial and political organizations must consider, in parallel with economic efficiency, the social and environmental impact of their choices; a responsible supply system is in fact crucial for global public health. Massimo comments on this: “Today, the main obstacle to reshoring is controlling production costs while complying with increasingly stringent environmental regulations, however, this could also lead, in the medium to long term, to a reduction of risks related to the global supply chain and an increase in employment and skills of local companies.
