✨ Flashback to #CIVISDays2024! ✨ Two weeks ago, the Paris Lodron Universität Salzburg hosted an extraordinary edition of the #CIVISDays2024, and we couldn’t be more thankful! A massive thank you to our hosts, participants, and everyone who helped make this event a success. 🙏 The CIVIS Days are a cornerstone of our alliance, where students, staff, and partners from Europe and Africa come together to discuss, collaborate, and shape the future of education. Institutions will collaborate to compare climate resilience strategies across diverse regions, including East Africa, the Mediterranean, and Central Europe. The project focuses on creating indicators for measuring adaptability to climate change, examining regional impacts on societies, and exploring sustainable coping mechanisms. It aims to generate insights into how different geographical areas can learn from each other to strengthen resilience to climate impacts. 🤝 Why This Collaboration Matters: This partnership is crucial because it brings together varied perspectives and expertise from across continents to tackle one of the most pressing global issues: climate change. By comparing how regions like East Africa, the Mediterranean, and Central Europe adapt to these challenges, we can uncover innovative solutions that are both locally relevant and globally applicable. The project also promotes knowledge exchange between scientists, policymakers, and local communities, ensuring that research results lead to practical and impactful climate action. Ultimately, this collaboration strengthens ties between African and European universities, creating lasting networks to address future global challenges. "Envisioning Borderless Education and Research" Yesterday evening marked a significant milestone for CIVIS. During the #CIVISDays2024, Rectors and representatives from all member universities of the #CIVIS Alliance came together at the Paris Lodron Universität Salzburg to formalise the creation of the CIVIS Association, a new legal entity. This important step strengthens our collective commitment to advancing borderless education and collaborative research across Europe and beyond. 🌍 We are also thrilled to announce the appointment of Stefan Lang, Vice-Rector for International Affairs and Digitalisation at PLUS, as the first Secretary General of CIVIS. During the ceremony, Prof. Lang articulated the importance of the alliance’s three foundational pillars—joint education strategies, an inter-university campus, and networked research teams—as essential to realising the vision of a transnational alliance.
