Making Fibreglass Recycling a Reality
Info
Composite Recycling has pioneered a novel approach for recycling glass fibre-reinforced plastics (GFRP) into reclaimed glass fibres and pyrolysis oil, in an energy-efficient and economically viable way, such that they can be reused in the manufacturing of high-quality new composites. Fibreglass waste from boats hulls, wind turbine blades, airplane and auto interiors, etc, represents a mounting problem for the industry and for the environment. Our mission is to divert such waste away from landfill and incineration by transforming them into high-value secondary raw materials that can enter the circular economy. Our business is two-fold: (1) we service clients who need a better solution for disposing of their fibreglass waste, and (2) we supply the outputs to manufacturers who want to incorporate recycled content into their production.

🚤 Circular manufacturing is no longer a concept—it's now reality! We've gotten lots questions about the circular boatbuilding alliance we announced a couple weeks back at JEC. Here's a simple graphic to explain this powerful collaboration, which makes true circularity possible by combining expertise across the entire value chain: ⚓ Groupe Beneteau – builds boats with recyclable materials like Arkema’s Elium® resin 🌍 Veolia – collects production waste for recycling 🔥 Composite Recycling – applies next-gen thermolysis tech to recover high-value fibers and oil 🧪 Arkema – transforms the reclaimed oil into new Elium® resin 🟢 Owens Corning – produces new glass fibers 🧵 CHOMARAT Group – crafts new glass reinforcements from these recycled fibers. 👉 Our technology enables this circularity by unlocking cost-effective, energy-efficient and scalable recycling for composite waste. Together with our alliance partners, we’re giving composite materials a second life—and reducing CO2 emissions by up to 70% compared to traditional methods. And it's about more than just the marine industry—it’s a blueprint for circularity in automotive, wind energy, aerospace, and beyond. Stay tuned for future announcements! #NetZero #CloseTheLoop #CircularEconomy #SustainableBoatbuilding #MarineInnovation
