Erneut beeindruckende Resultate! 🌟 Von der digitalen Produktentwicklung in #CLO3D bis hin zur Herstellung wasserdichter Regenjacken haben meine Studierenden in der Lehrveranstaltung „Alternative Fügetechnologien“ herausragende Leistungen gezeigt. Das Ziel bestand darin, mithilfe nachhaltiger 3-Lagen-Laminate von #Sympatex wasserdichte Regenjacken mit alternativen Fügemethoden (Kleben & Schweißen) zu produzieren. Bevor die Studierenden mit der Verarbeitung begannen, entwickelten und optimierten sie ihre Produkte digital in #CLO3D bis zur endgültigen Schnittfreigabe. Für alle Klebeanwendungen war #Bemis unser idealer Partner und zusammen mit den Trims von #Duraflex und #YKK fertigten unsere Young Professionals innovative Jacken. The aim was to produce waterproof rain jackets using sustainable 3-layer laminates from #Sympatex with alternative joining technologies (bonding & welding). Before commencing the manufacturing process, the students developed and refined their products digitally in #CLO3D up to the final pattern approval. I'm thrilled to share my thesis project: the Cork 12L avalanche airbag pack and vest, a revolutionary new safety system designed specifically for FIS Freeride World Tour competitors. This project is the culmination of extensive research, prototyping, sewing, and testing, all aimed at creating a lightweight, secure, low-profile system that doesn't hinder rider performance. The Cork 12L leverages cutting-edge technologies to enhance both safety and performance. Facet Fit prioritizes lightweight design for maximum rider mobility and incorporates a flexible back panel tailored for spinal movements during skiing maneuvers. The Retaining Airbag Pocket (R.A.P.) system provides a secure, zipper-less avalanche airbag deployment mechanism, offering greater reliability and ease of use for riders. The Deploy 1.0 Airbag System utilizes the Black Diamond Equipment JetForce airbag inflator with a custom unique shape due to the added volume around the neck and a lightweight, non-air-permeable fabric to mitigate trauma during avalanches by reducing spinal flexion and preventing forward pressure on the head. This project wouldn't have been possible without the invaluable contributions of my mentors and collaborators, including Carly Mick, Carly C. I'm excited to share my progress on the Cork 12L avalanche airbag for FIS Freeride World Tour athletes! Over the past nine weeks I've been hard at work developing functional prototypes for my thesis project at the University of Oregon College of Design Sports Product Design program. Weighing only 2465g (5.4lbs) and utilizing a new, innovative airbag closure I designed, this system remains securely closed yet enables the user to still trigger the inflation effortlessly. It’s extremely low profile, minimal literage, and allows for maximum flexibility when throwing tricks. Over the next semester I look forward to refining the aesthetics, adding branding, and hitting a 1700g weight goal.
