What will EBP look like in the year 2050? For the "Future Scenarios (Speculative Design)" module of Hyper Island's Digital Management Master, we asked 15 students just that. Here are some of their speculations that we found most intriguing: 🔸We will work as a Teal organization – an organization that relies on self-management. 🔸We will implement a co-opetition strategy to drive innovation in sustainable technologies. (Co-opetition means cooperating with a competitor to achieve a shared goal.) 🔸Our knowledge ecosystem will use gamification elements to make collaboration more fun. 🔸Given the increasing urgency to find and implement sustainable solutions, we will face an even stronger competition in the market. 🔸We will have our own AI tool, called ChatEBP, that will help us create and collaborate. 🔸We will invest in metaverse tools and cultural exchange programs to foster cross-cultural interactions. Bonus: Our colleagues will have cool names like Nyx, Orion, and Titan. We are excited for 2050! A big thank you to all the students for their inspiring visions and recommendations: Irena Zabasta Mar High Artem Setkin Susanna Scheidegger Aleksi Tappura Chris Haener Heiðar Þór Jónssonar Maximilian Held Oleksii Volkov Elisa Quintero Felix Seifried Matias Buenaventura Nainika Naik Tea Svensson and our own Sarah Schöni! 📸Image credit: Hyper Island Master in Digital Management (2024), Group 1 #ShapingTheFuture #SustainableDevelopment #FutureScenarios #SpeculativeDesign #TealOrganization

We like to emphasize that EBP is a truly global company. But what does that mean, exactly? This is how Matthias Thoma, our CEO, explains it: "We have offices in seven countries around the world – from Brasil (EBP Brasil) and Chile (EBP Chile SpA) to China and India. This way, we can tackle complex topics in large and growing economies with enormous challenges in sustainability. What’s more: Our EBP experts have access to global best practices. They can exchange ideas across cultures and collaborate transnationally. This ensures that our solutions and approaches work on an international level. So being a truly global company means two things: Working for global clients and projects, and doing so with a global mindset. It’s like two sides of the same coin." 👇Explore some of our projects that demonstrate how we put this mindset into practice: CEELA: https://lnkd.in/eagV73Hi G7 resilience in urban development: https://lnkd.in/evaZtFb9 BerlinStrategie 2030: https://lnkd.in/epDYVQyK #ShapingTheFuture #SustainableDevelopment #GlobalMindset

Meet EBP Deutschland GmbH! Just last year, EBP Deutschland (Germany) celebrated its 30th anniversary. Today, more than 60 people work in interdisciplinary teams in our German office. Four teams are dedicated to Information Technology, with a focus on road and water transport, and on meteorology. Another team works in Climate and Energy and in Urban Development. EBP Deutschland’s projects are diverse and multifaceted, reflecting their expertise and capabilities. They are proud of their long-term collaborations in the area of weather systems, where they have developed  a customized software for issuing and managing official warnings – for example in the event of a storm. Our German office is located in the heart of Berlin, just across the street from the central train station and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action – what a fitting neighbor! Our sustainable office building was conceptualized and planned by EBP and has its own photovoltaic system. Our German colleagues are spread over two floors of the building. To mix things up and support their collaborative approach in daily work, they share desks and get together for after-work events and activities. They pride themselves on the calm yet friendly atmosphere they have created in their office – and on their strong team spirit. 👇🏽 Learn more about EBP Deutschland and our teams in Berlin: https://lnkd.in/eQZFFBSf #ShapingTheFuture #SustainableDevelopment #TeamGermany

How can we make buildings and districts in tropical climates more sustainable? The urgency of energy-efficient housing and infrastructure in South America is growing year by year. Especially in vulnerable communities in tropical climates, there is a great need to improve the indoor comfort of buildings, such as schools and universities. At the same time, greenhouse gas emissions from the building sector must be reduced. This is why the project "Strengthening Capacities for Energy Efficiency in buildings in Latin America (CEELA)" exists. Initiated by the Swiss government, the project aims to support sustainable building practices in tropical climates in Mexico, Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador. EBP Schweiz and EBP Chile SpA are helping to make energy-efficient building practices accessible, establish capacity-building programs, and develop appropriate legal frameworks in each country. As a first step, CEELA developed 15 principles of Energy Efficiency and Adaptive Comfort (EECA) and made them available to local building professionals. The goal: to reduce the amount of CO₂ emitted by buildings and to increase the comfort of those who live, study or work in them. Here is a sneak peek to five of the 15 principles: 🔸Apply integrated design 🔸Control direct sunlight radiation 🔸Apply bioclimatic design for outdoor spaces 🔸Install high efficiency electrical equipment and lighting 🔸Self-generate renewable electrical energy Want to find out more about CEELA?       #ClimateChange, natural disasters, conflicts or socio-economic tensions: How can cities become more resilient to face these challenges? This is one of the questions at the heart of the G7 Urban Development Track – an initiative by the #G7 to enhance #UrbanSustainability and resilience.  We provide the German Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development (BBSR) with research and analytical support on #UrbanResilience to assist with this initiative. The aim is also to facilitate the exchange between scientists, practitioners and decision-makers. Experts from EBP Deutschland GmbH, EBP Schweiz and EBP US collaborate to provide in-depth knowledge in #UrbanDevelopment. With EBP Germany, BBSR has a local point of contact in the capital, while the Swiss colleagues bring language skills in French and Italian, which are invaluable for international research and case studies. We also collaborate with the Universität Augsburg's Chair of Urban Climate Resilience to gain an academic perspective. To learn more about our solutions to foster urban resilience, get in touch with our expert Lukas Hellwig from EBP Germany! Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. You might think this pledge is just empty words. But we mean it! Throughout the long history of our company, our focus on sustainability has always been our top priority. Here are two things we’ve learned along the way: 🔸𝐖𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧. When approaching projects, we identify opportunities for sustainable development and work with our clients to take advantage of them. This includes the responsible use of natural, economic, and social resources. Some might say: That makes projects complicated. We say: It makes projects balanced and forward-looking. 🔸𝐖𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬. When we work on complex projects with multiple stakeholders, there is always the potential for conflict. We balance environmental, economic, and social aspects and look for synergies to bring about positive change. Transparency and open dialogue are essential. 👇Learn more about our commitment to sustainable development:  https://lnkd.in/etZ_kJUz What is your favorite learning about sustainable development? #ShapingTheFuture #SustainableDevelopment #KeyLearnings
